Ethan keeps playing this off as a "joke"... but was not joking! He is getting called out for "harassment and bullying", when it would have been "inciting domestic terrorism", had it been from a creator on political right.

@Goulash45 ... No.... while he is seeking comedic tone to engage his audience, that comment was no joke. He hates the NRA and just got caught saying the quiet part out loud.

Do I think he carefully considered what he was about to say and would begin to cheer if right away somebody was to actually DO such a thing...? No. . However, this was not a small group of people at a party, just gabbing away and he got carried away to say this. He was on a live stream talking to many thousands of people and potentially millions, had the video not been taken down, so who knows how people will take his words. . Such a statement carries a whole lot more weight when spoken by someone who reaches the number of people Ethan does. He does not need to be imprisoned, but he needs to understand the gravity of what he said and I hope it sinks in.

@Goulash45 ... Dude... WTF? This "joke" as you insist we call it, was inciting a violent act against a building in which protesters are EXTREMELY angry about with tensions VERY high. He suggested that someone take a bomb and blow the NRA up, while people are THIS angry! . This is not a joke about helicopter rides, as if that is a parallel in even the most microscopic of ways, this is an extremely angry mob, that is not thinking in any kind of rational way. These people are screaming epithets at the top of their lungs about how those inside this building are MURDERERS and have blood on their hands. Mobs like this need only the slightest provocation to turn from that yelling to extremely violent attacks. . Ethan got a "threatening or bullying" strike, had the video removed and got a week suspension, I think it was. Had this been a conservative channel, it would have been "inciting violence" and almost guarantee a permanent ban and VERY likely the deletion of the channel. . One cannot joke about bombing a building when tensions are THIS high. It is extremely irresponsible and Ethan is damned lucky no wackjob took him up on this offer for that 15 minutes of fame. . EDIT: Go into an airport and in the most casual, OBVIOUSLY kidding, joking silly manner, say what he did... see what happens! Say what Ethan said about POTUS... see what happens! Context matters and it was WILDLY inappropriate to say what he said, during THIS situation.

@Stan_Vanderakt ... Yes, they absolutely do! Need only look at the ToS rule applied to Ethan on this video.."Harassment and Bullying". Had there been no or much less push-back YT would have done nothing or possibly removed video until Ethan made the "appropriate" edits. . Had this been a comparative reached audience, but from a conservative creator, the ToS violation would have been ..."Inciting violence or terrorism" and a bare minimum of 1 month suspension, but much more likely termination of the channel with ALL contented deleted. . This is the world we live in, as nearly all major platforms are run by leftist ideologues and "Rules for thee, but not for me" is the order of the day. . EDIT: Imagine this had been Steven Crowder... Ben Shapiro.. Glenn Beck... Jericho Green... ABL... Candace Owens or any number of creators? I would be willing to bet that not ONE of them would have a channel any longer, had they said exactly the same thing!

@Goulash45 ... OMG... lol. I was just making a joke because I saw that someone was being called a "contrarian" :) Didn't even know it was me... lol. . I have never, nor would I ever claim to NOT have a bias. Of course... I have a bias, just as you and everyone else does. However, that bias does not make anything I said not factual. . it is certainly a matter of opinion as to how much sarcasm, twinkle in the eye Ethan had when he suggested someone should bomb the building, but that is not the point. One cannot go into an airport an even in the most silly or joking ways, suggest someone should bomb the place. In the same manner, one cannot suggest one "harm" POTUS either. . Ethan said something that should NEVER be joked about when speaking about a CURRENT situation with the amount of intense emotional feeling as was the case when he said it. As mentioned already... he was speaking off the cuff and not caught up in the moment, but it is STILL inciting a violent act. He was talking to many thousands of people at the time and was a very irresponsible thing to say. . Do I think he should go to prison... hell no! Do I think he gave more than .2 nano's of consideration before he said that... hell no! Doesn't matter... he STILL he must be conscious of what he is saying, who is listening and the state of tension that was existing at the time. . I argue my position not from one that is looking to be right or seek a "gotcha" moment (I am not accusing you of saying that I am). I don't even argue from an ideological position, I say what I understand to be facts of an event and apply the most intellectually honest and good faith argument I can to whoever cares to listen. . If I am wrong... I will own it. This is not about what Ethan was thinking when he said this, it is about being responsible for the things he says. THIS was the wrong thing to say... period.

@Goulash45 ... Dude.. for the love of God.... it was irresponsible to make such a statement. This was not two people talking on the phone. This was not a guy at a party talking to a group of people that had a few too many drinks. This was guy with a huge following of very loyal subs in which he has quite a bit of influence. Just like a Steven Crowder... Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson. The context in which he made that statement was to possibly incite violence, because he has a lot of people who listen to what he has to say and, while it is not be fair, he MUST consider what one of them might do in such an emotionally charged condition. . You can claim he was joking or didn't really mean it or point to a definition or description on the internet... I don't care. I think he got exactly what he deserved, but I will certianly argue, that had this been identical scenario, but was a libertarian or conservative creator and not a leftist... the punishment would have been far more severe, as the channel would likely be removed. . Ethan got at minimum what he deserved. Hopefully, he will be more careful with what he says going forward. . EDIT: Let me clarify here. Even though, I 100% believe that a conservative would have gotten a much harsher penatly for saying this, I am not advocating that Ethan lose his channel over, as that would be an over-reaction. I am a free speech absolutist and is specifically as it relates to 1a. I want to hear what even the most extreme left, right or whatever someone things / believes, as I feel that allowing such ideas to the light of scrutiny would be far more beneficial than booting someone off of a platform, so they go underground to create an echo chamber of others who also may have anti-social opinions or views. . Can we be done with this now, please?
