  2. Those are not tech workers. They're politically connected spoiled brats on corporate welfare. Most of those tech companies are getting tax breaks to move to the city. Cut out welfare for the wealthy and the cost of housing will drop like a rock.

  7. Car owners subsidize mass transit through gas taxes and other fees that are siphoned off to fund transit projects that cost more than they are worth. If you want to keep fares low, be thankful for car owners who pay the freight on your bus or rail system.

  12. Yeah if you want to wait 1/2 an hour for a train to arrive and depart then trains are just wonderful. However, I can get in my car and drive to where ever the train goes in about 1/4 the time.

  13. People who drive are paying more because they are getting more for their money. If using mass transit were better than driving, people would use it instead of driving. However, mass transit is inferior to driving and people don;t want to use it. It's a case of Economics 101-A and people are voting with their pocket book. A better product or service sells more than an inferior one and travel by private auto is a hell of a lot better than mass transit.

  15. Most people don;t want to live in a high rise, high density version of Motel 6. Furthermore, most people prefer to drive instead of use mass transit so high density housing will result in more traffic.

  17. iv'e said this over and over. People don;t want to live in ultra high density cities like Tokyo or Hong Kong. The only way people could be made to live in those kind of cities is for the state government to declare martial law and mandate where and how they live. That's not going to happen and it should not be allowed to happen. So quit trying to twist the arm of the consumer and let people live (and travel) where and how they choose

  18. Yes, so called "smart growth" is a bunch of crap. San Francisco has been implementing smart growth for 8 years and the place is riddled with endless socio-economic and environmental problems. Mass transit, bike lanes, low flow toilets, so called high efficiency washers, electric cars, solar panels don't work. If you've got the money to get out, then get out ASAP before the government raises taxes and fees through the roof to pay for all that "shovel with a rope handle" sustainable growth.

Most of them don't have any technical skill and they're working for a bunch of politically connected companies (like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) that don;t produce anything of value. The booming economy is a complete fraud and it will collapse and take out the middle class along with it.

  21. Mass transit isn't going to do a dime's worth of good and it's better to start building more freeways. Once people see their neighborhoods getting ripped up to put a freeway through, they'll think twice about having a cancer cell economy based on endless population growth and development.

Facebook, Google, Tesla, Twitter, etc. are essentially a bunch of government funded shills under a front of private corporations. If the government would quit pumping billions into the economy, the cost of housing would rapidly deflate.

  36. Yes,yes, yes!!! Let's convert all of our park land into housing. In fact, developers are already putting together a campaign to convince the public that all that open space is going to waste. What are all those trees, lakes, and grass really doing but taking up space when it could be used for housing for another half a million people. That's the really the ultimate plan and you will soon be hearing proposals for "limited" development on park land. In fact, the ultimate goal is to get rid of Golden Gate Park, Mission Dolores, Moscone, etc., and convert them all into mega high rise condos and apartments like the Salesforce Tower. School yards are another place to bulldoze and put up high rises. Then pass zoning laws that restrict all new housing to micro-apartments where you go to the bathroom in the same space where you eat and sleep. Or better yet, have communal kitchens and bathrooms where you share eating and showering space like a college dorm and your only private space will be a cubicle with a bed. Make the city so dense you can't walk a block down the street without bumping into 100 people just like China and Hong Kong.

  48. No unnecessary freeways. San Francisco tore down the Embarcadero Freeway and replaced it with a surface street. Really bad idea. Now traffic is backed up for a mile and it takes 20 minutes to go one mile.
