At 55:00 JP has stated that athletes can break their own records or play a really great game. Ok duh. Let's check Rubin's response: 'Do you think it is weird that it is a fleeting moment? I did good for a month, but then I can have a bad month, you can't hold on to a great month forever.' [Let me see if I got this right Dave. You can have a good day, or a good month, or an athlete can have a great jump or scoring game...but then something happens and the next day or month or game might not be as good as the last? I think I actually agree with you on that, although I wouldn't call it weird. Weird would be if all days were good or the same.] JP: 'Minutes lasted hours and I mean that literally.' [Let me give you a heads up JP. The only way that could happen literally is if you were in some kind of time distortion device or a black hole.] 'The weight of time and mortality and self consciousness and you escape that immersed properly.' [Immersed properly? In what? You can escape mortality and time? Not on this planet dude.]

At 29:00 JP: 'It is proving very difficult for defenders of enlightenment values to put up an effective fight against this assault on the idea of ompotence. There is nothing solid enough there for some reason'. [I bet even Rubin doesn't know what Peterson is talking about here. Dave? Is ompotence even a word?]

@BodyLanguageBoss So what is Peterson's point?
1
@BodyLanguageBoss At 43:00 Peterson astonishes us that truth and family are important. Man I wish I had a PhD so I could know this stuff.
1
@BodyLanguageBoss At 44:00 Rubin astonishes us that the internet increases the speed of communication. It is so great to watch two super geniuses addressing modern issues.

Randomly at like 44:00 JP 'There is an all out assault on the integrity of cultural structures, there is a technological assault on everything. You revert to the individual and try to make better people. [Isn't one of Peterson's rules to be precise in your language? An assault on everything is precise language? You revert to the individual is precise language? Let's see what Rubin has to say.] Dave: 'The speed of the internet, speed of information is changing us, the speed is unimaginable three decades ago.' [So let me get this straight Dave. The speed of the internet and communication is way faster than it was in 1990? I am pretty sure you are right on that, I will do some research and get back to you.] Alternate title of this video: 'Two guys pretend to sound intellectual while they discuss things every fifth grader already knows.'

At 45:30 Rubin: 'I don't remember the last time I heard a new musician that I really love, because of what has happened with cancel culture the people that should be showing us things are not showing us them. What do we do about that? How do we make the artists brave again and give us creative achievement.' [This guy is so full of crap. Artists are not brave? Have you watched any Rap lately Dave? WAP? That is not brave to put that kind of content out there? Because you haven't found any music you like you are jumping the Great White to a conclusion that good music is being stifled? What absolute nonsense. I have been a musician and a dedicated listener since the Beatles, Hendrix, the Doors, there is a lot of fantastic stuff out there pushing the limits of creativity. My guess is Rubin listen's to country and soft jazz, and he thus hasn't noticed any evolution in music. Get out of you comfort zone Dave. Put aside your Kenny G and Garth Brooks CD's for a day; check out Eilish, Illenium, Phoebe Bridgers, Juice Wrld for starters.]

Randomly at 17:00 'Everyone should be able to capitalize on their strengths.' [duh] Strengths are relative. [duh] You offer to the world your strength in some domain. [You mean like an olympic swimmer offers their swimming skills? Thank you Jordan.] Where you are strong you have merit. [You mean like an expert scientist has merit in science? Thank you again Jordan.] The political situation seems unstable. [Unstable how Jordan? Are we at risk of loosing democracy? Don't you claim to use precise wording?] Rubin: 'If Jordan was around he would be fixing this stuff. [Really Dave? When has JP ever offered a solution to anything?]

Let's randomly check in to these two guys at around 20:00: D: 'I was completely moved by the idea of having something to believe in beyond logic and reason. I know now that I can't control everything. I have a link to my ancestors. There is something that sits beneath our rationale.' J: 'We live in a story. To forge a path and gather what is valuable. That makes your life more meaningful. The Christians have an explanation. It is a deep idea.' [Apparently Dave is deeply moved at having something to believe in that sits beneath our rationale. Pretty low bar for being deeply moved Dave. Peterson astonishes us that forging a path, and gathering valuable things is meaningful. I am so totally impressed.]

Did Peterson or Rubin say something smart?
1
Rubin's YT page describes himself as 'Each week Dave Rubin uses logic and reason to have honest conversations... goes one on one with thought leaders..' The implication Dave is trying to make is that Conservatives are the smart ones and Liberals are the dumb ones. The problem is, listen to any two minute section of this video and and Rubin and Peterson are proving the precise opposite. How about taking on a smart liberal [like me] and lets watch where that goes. Dave? "Looking for smart and honest conversations about current events, political news and the culture war? Want to increase your critical thinking by listening to different perspectives on a variety of topics? If so, then you’re in the right place because on The Rubin Report Dave Rubin engages the ideas of some of society's most interesting thought leaders, authors, politicians and comedians." How about we discuss solutions rather than 'enlightenment theories, technology assaulting everything, and reverting to the individual', whatever that all means. I have better ideas than any of the recent round of presidential candidates on every issue. Pick an issue and I will tell you a solution.

At 10:20 to 10:40 Peterson actually seems reasonably logical; he is bored talking about his problems. As for the apparent irony of a guy with serious emotional/mental problems giving life advice, that doesn't bother me. Give all the productive life advice you want. It is the advice that matters; not who is giving it.
