You should get a 5.3 LS for that jeep that thing would be awesome with a 5.3 LS my friend put a 6.0 in his in that thing is a beast he races it off road and does lot's of off road thing with it and it being fuel injected the thing will run climbing steep hills and on major angles. With the carb it would alway stall out and just be a pain but all you need is a open computer and wiring out of a truck to put the LS in to that jeep and you will have good gas mileage and good power more then some old AMC engine will ever do without spending a heap of cash doing it.
