  1. i would agree with most of your points except for point 1, you argue bullet calibers instead of rifles. for rifles, the native caliber for an AR is 5.56, and for an AK its 7.62x39. with their native rounds, the AK is less accurate at longer ranges, as you admit yourself that past 400 yards the bullet just drops like a rock. but even at those ranges, a good shooter with a normal AK that he is used to and has owned and fired it over a long period of time can compensate for the specific quirks of his own gun and bullet drop and harmonics and yada yada. but under normal circumstances, the AR and the AK in their "native" caliber the AR tends to be slightly more accurate at longer distances, and i do say slightly. i hate the AK, but thats because i grew up in that part of the world, so seeing an AK which was a common riffle is like seeing a ford or chevy here in the states, so common they are ugly. i personally prefer the AR, due to its more modular design and a better look, but thats my personal opinion, since ive seen some ugly looking AR set up. i have 3 ARs, one is a standard old school carry handle iron sights, one is a rail top optics ready with no front iron sight on the gas block, and one is a modified optics ready sharps 25-45 with a 20 heavy barrel and a free floating handguard and muzzle brake to match, thats my hunting riffle. the 25 cal round is legal in all 50 states for all hunting, and at 400 yards it has the hitting power of an AK round but with the flight charecteristics of a 5.56 NATO round. with all the companies that make the AK for the US market that "shouldnt" be making them, i never really trusted an AK platform build in the states for use in the states.
