America doesnt have roots in slavery, some states have roots in slavery, and those states were established as colonies before slavery was brought to them, i dont remember any ships coming from Europe to New York loaded with slaves to start up new colonies and towns. teaching people that Americas rooted in slavery is a lie, especially since half of America was non slave states and a bloody war was fought to end it. guess you dont want to teach that part do you.

@Homeless Forstr very well, i'll inform you. after the civil war, republicans (who were against slavery) started moving into the democrat (who were for slavery) areas of the south to help reconstruction and help bring former slave into a freer country. those former slaves finally found freedom when they realized, with republicans help, that they could move to other parts of the country, including cities in the north, after all, who would want to stick around in the south where prospects of prosperity were slim compared to the industrialized norht where industry was booming and everyone got a wage because there was no slavery. freed slaves over generations started moving to large urban areas for prosperity, and the democrats from the south that kept the slaves down all those generations followed them to urban areas and maintained control with disinformation campaigns such as "you know dems and repubs just switched names right". the republicans that came from the north into the south to help the former slaves stayed there helping the slaves that were left behind, while the democrats who followed freed slaves into urban areas established themselves there and flourished by maintaining control over a subjugated population constantly, with the help of the media at the time, since everyone knows what the NYT is or the Chicago Tribune, or Wall Street Journal compared to the Baton Rouge Daily Buegle. long story short, democrats moved out of the south into the north, republicans moved into the south, and then democrats lied and claimed that they just switched names, all to maintain control and dupe more generations into being slaves for dems.

@JoJo-vg8dz thats a funny joke, "not leftists". yea right. leftist ideology is no different, it also justifies slavery and wars and invasions and economic law of the jungle, well, maybe more like economic law of a farm than a jungle, where everyone is cattle and enslaved to their ideology.

@rc7625 yea, it was all the GOP. 1865 the war ended, in 1868 amendment XIV was passed, 10 years later the federal troops withdrew from the south returning it to local white rule, and the "GOP" as you call them, fell out of national power, thats by 1878 or so. over the next 20 years a series of repressive laws were passed, known as jim crow laws. how is it that the GOP who fell out of national power by this time all of a sudden had the power to instill such far reaching laws? and why is it that these laws started popping up only after the federal troops withdrew and the GOP fell out of power? why is it that these Jim Crow laws were not instituted by the GOP on a national level while they were in power, but rather on a local level and only AFTER the feds pulled out and left the south to local rule by the same old democrats that were there? https://www.crf-usa.org/black-history-month/a-brief-history-of-jim-crow

@JoJo-vg8dz well, i go by todays definition of leftism, not last generations definition that i wasnt even alive to witness. those "hippies" were around doing their thing before i was born. if you want to use yesterdays definition then thats on you, but that doesnt fit todays leftists.
