as an American, i cant really say much about Ford other that his pandemic response is low on the list of reasons he should resign. but im happy to know that Canada is such a wonderful and great country that even in this horrific pandemic, the government wont turn total fascist nazzi and demand peoples traveling papers on the street like common jews in Europe 1939. ....... oh wait.

@carlthor91 hundreds of years of history and you people still havent learned that lockdowns dont do anything? how did those lockdowns work for you during the black death?

@bigtimber yes, i heard of quarantine islands, they didnt work so well for the people sent to them. ive heard of leper colonies too, didnt work out so well for the lepers did they? can you tell me what you sacrificed during these lockdowns and was it worth it? mental illness up, domestic violence up, unemployment up, homelessness up, crime up, depression up, but hey, you beat a disease that was practically no threat.

@carlthor91 so the town locked down and still died out, i see, that lockdown worked out great for them. perhaps its your attitude that is par of the problem. you destroy an entire economy, peoples livelihoods, their ability to even stay in their homes, all so you can feel safe, kind of like the people in the north allowed that town to die out for their own safety. how much did this lockdown cost everyone, and is the price something you are willing to swallow?

@tragicvalentine you are doing average, no better or worse than most other countries, with the exception of maybe some countries in Europe that are doing horrible. i havent really seen Australia in the news as being so great, but i also havent seen them in the news as being so terrible either. what i have seen is Japan and South Korea in the news as doing exceptionally well, and Italy as getting hit severely.

@carlthor91 no, you dont get to call anyone greedy while calling for others to sacrifice for your benefit, its not a moral high ground you can attain. and i'll have a better life than you.

@tragicvalentine and it took you a year to achieve that, compare yourself to a country like Japan or South Korea who achieved that within the first couple of months of hte outbreak. compared to them you dId NOT do so great.

@DBeau73 actually yes, they did have lockdowns back in the 1300's, although they didn quite call them lockdowns, the principle was the same. July 27th 1377, the city of Ragusa implemented quarantine and various other health measures which included social distancing. 1348, Venice was the first city to close its ports and begin quarantine and lockdown measures. in 1349 England, Edward III postponed pairlament until easter, many Officials fled to their homes in the country and sheriffs refused to conduct their business for fear of their lives. The country was in lockdown and the people looked to the king to support them in the crisis.
