@dillonforsberg yea, if they made the effort to be the party of labor and the people, but it takes too much time to put in the effort, so why waste the time when you can just take the votes for granted.

@TheRealBlueValhalla im not gonna lie, i know why Trump went, he went for a photo op nothing more. but it says volumes how Biden and Butigeig DID NOT go, not even for a photo op, even though its their job to handle emergencies since they are in charge.

@susantang287 i didnt see any offers of help from Biden, i didnt see any national media reporting that Biden offered to help, in fact, what i saw the national media report on was that FEMA rejected the claim that this was a disaster or emergency and refused to send any aid, and when democrats started seeing the backlash from the public is when Biden stepped in and pushed FEMA to release help. it took how long for the transportation secretary to arrive at a dissaster site that is actually affecting an entire region? he just barely arrived when everyone was reporting that he was a no show, THATS how he was embarrassed into showing up. at least im honest enough to admit that this is a phot op for Trump, but you dont even have the decency to be honest about Butigeigs motives and you just want to lie.

@susantang287 oh i saw the reporting, i watched it all. the governor requested emergency aid from FEMA, and was declined, and when that news was announced and started making national headlines, the Biden administration realized that they made a blunder and several days AFTER the white house made an "official" excuse why FEMA denied aid, because FEMA only responds to "natural" disasters. and after that the president offered to send in other federal agencies to OH to offer aid. but the whole excuse of FEMA only responding to natural disasters is BS, according to FEMA's very own website which has this as their mission statement. FEMA’s mission is to reduce the loss of life and property and protect communities nationwide from all hazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters. FEMA leads and supports the nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery and mitigation did you read that part about "OTHER MAN-MADE DISASTERS"? its ironic how you would admonish someone for not reading while you are the one guilty of it, you project too much.

@Blue Valhalla if he hasn't declared a state of emergency then why are all those federal agencies there then? They shouldn't be there if it's not an emergency, but yet they are there because it is an emergency. Quit trying to make excuses to defend inaction from the administration.

PETE went to OH AFTER Trump went because the optics looked bad that the federal government didnt go to a disaster site like that, that is something that is obvious, yet you wont admit it. the federal response to this MULTI-STATE disaster has been severely lacking and bordering on criminal NEGLIGENCE, but you wont admit that either. people like you keep claiming that conservatives and people on the right will blindly support Trump no matter what, yet those same people if you talk to them will admit faults with the man and praise him. but people on your side will praise Biden no matter what, no faults what so ever. who is in a cult right now? @valmacclinchy i looked up "fema declines assistance to OH" and got a bunch of news stories about it, including a video of Biden saying he is declining aid to OH. and yea, i looked up "ohio governor refuses aid" and got a whole mix of stories about how the governor requested aid and how FEMA declined aid to OH and even a news story about the white hosue explaining why it turned down disaster relief for Ohio. so tell me HOW the governor can refuse aid that the white house refused to send him? FEMA REFUSED TO SEND AID.

@50-50_Grind i dont think more parties will solve the problem, completely dissolving the parties might solve the problem. as we have seen in the last election, "vote blue no matter who", didnt Pelosi say that AOC's district is so heavily democrat leaning that you could put a D on a glass of water and it would win? there are plenty of people out there that strictly vote for party and thats it, democrat or republican, it doesnt matter, as long as the right letter is in front of the name. maybe if we elliminate the parties, and everyone runs as an independent, and outlaw the smear campaigns that politics has devolved into and just have candidates run on their merits?i mean realistically, in 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, what merits did Hillary and Biden run on? Hilary ran on "Trump is racist and mysoginist", and Biden ran on pretty much the same thing. 2008 Obama ran on "hope and change", a change from the previous administration that was bad. but what merits did any of these candidates bring forth? did any of them come up and say, hey, vote for me because my last term i lower your taxes and i lower your cost of living and i made peace with so and so? no, it was the same ole, vote for me because the other guy is blah blah blah.

@50-50_Grind really? which country is that? i know of a few countries that have more than 2 parties, and they are not doing any better or worse than most other countries. each one has its own problems. but with the 2 party system here, gettign a 3rd party in is next to impossible. perfect example is look at Sanders, always claims to be an independent and not a democrat but always runs on the democrat ticket and all his supporters claim that he would get no where if he ran on an independent ticket. so yea, here we would have to abolish the parties completely.

whats truly depressing is that a president and secretary of transportation have been in office for 2 years and didnt lift a finger to "fix" whatever they say the former president "broke", and then to top it off they refused to go see what was broken after it happened. Biden is too busy traveling to Ukraine to give them more money so they can have their retirement funds and Buttgieg is too busy running around talking trash about white people in construction.

@7srchoed because Trump didnt cause this dissaster, that has been debunked, the de-regulations that Trump innitiated did absolutely nothing to cause this dissaster and didnt affect this type of train or transport.

@johnc3525 of course he cant clean up the air or pull the chemicals out of the water and ground, but at least he could show that he cares by being there. during the 3 mile island nuclear meltdown, Jimmy carter the president went there, everyone knew that he couldnt fix the reactor or do anything about it, but just his presence alone was enough to signal to the people that it wasnt as bad as some people were making it out to be, even if it was bad, it was a small gesture to try and reasure the public that their government was there for them. currently the story is that the federal government ABANDONED its people, and that is a terrible optic.

@7srchoed honestly i dont agree, for the most part this was a mechanical failure, and its nearly impossible to regulate away mechanical failures. i mean look at the air travel industry, they are heavily regulated and yet they have mechanical failures and crashes despite all the regulations. this accident occurred because of a wheel bearing failure that resulted in an axel breaking and eventually causing the train to derail, at least thats what it looks like right now. you can regulate that all wheel bearings on all trains must be brand new and replaced after every trip our changed out every 3000 miles, and that may lower the chances of failure, but it wont lower the cances to 0%, one may still fail. trains sometimes derail because they hit something big on the tracks, and we already have regulations to prevent that, but it still happens. yes, deregulation is a bipartisan project, and yes, most regulations are needed and its bad to get rid of them, but in this instance, the EPA should have stepped right in and stop the railroad company from doing what they did, but instead, they showed up, allowed the company to do what they did, and then the EPA ran around trying to tell everyone that the air and the water was perfectly fine and safe while everyone is watching thier animals die all over the place.
