@jspur22 yea, no point in changing their mind, but there is a point to pointing out their hypocrisy and their misinformed attitudes and laugh at them for it. its like the guy who is hell bent on doing a dangerous stunt that you know will break his leg, after he breaks his leg you point and laugh at him and say "told you so".

There is no way to make it difficult for a bad guy to get a gun if he is a bad guy willing to break the law. Example is the drug war, somehow, it's very hard to get drugs, except that bad guys can get them pretty easily co sidering you can find then I. Max security prisons even.

@austinhernandez2716 really, never used in crimes? Inner city gangs use them to murder each other all the damn time. The mayor of Chicago had a heated argument with an alderman when he laid ito her about gangbusters running around shooting off machine guns in his district during the riots a year ago. The people working g at that magazine in Europe were gunned down using automatic weapons. There was a bank roberry in California where 4 guys dressed in full body armor used automatic weapons to fire at police who were outgunned. The shooter in Las Vegas used an item to convert his weapon into a functioning automatic weapon. To say that no crimes are committed with automatic weapons is being ignorant, and to think that they don't exist in private hands because of the ban is just as ignorant. The only thing the ban on auto.atic weapons did was to raise the price on them, and the average criminal is not going to spend $20k on a gun that is functionally not much different from a $1k weapon.

there are 20,000 gun laws on the books on the federal and state and local level, you had 20,000 chances at common sense and havent solved a single problem yet.

yea, look at Canada doing the right thing by enacting EMERGENCY WAR POWERS to crush a peaceful protest because the protesters were honking their horns too much.

@dwh5896 people in London cant do those things either without worrying about getting stabbed, they got rid of their guns, was the problem solved, not really, they traded one for another.

@gotyounow4789 doesnt matter what they acted like, and doesnt matter what they were protesting, they were being peaceful and the government enacted emergency war powers to deal with a protest where no one was injured or killed and no damages were caused to any property. hopefully you go out and protest something you care about and the government gives you a big slap of reality with their emergency war powers.

@gotyounow4789 it's not about giving me points, it's about supporting what's right and overthrowing what is wrong. You don't have to support those protesters and what they are protesting, but you should support their right to protest. What happens if it's a protest for a cause you do support? Let's say a living wage, and big companies get together and push the government to shut that protest down, and so Trudeau enacts his super power again. Should you expect anyone to support your cause? It doesn't matter if the cause is just or if you agree with it, if you stand against the fighters fighting a tyrannical government, then the government has already won and you have willingly given up your freedoms.

@PhoenixHinds no, it's a realistic attitude because it's the truth. Banning guns will only stop law abiding citizens from having them, because history has shown us that banning something does not mean it will simply dissappear. Drugs are banned, yet criminals still get drugs easily. Alcohol was banned and it gave rise to a whole new criminal element. Banning something is not going to stop the criminals from getting it, just makes whatever you ban go underground.

@PhoenixHinds what do I propose? Sime, make schools hard target instead of soft targets. Licker the doors and don't have all the doors open so anyone can come in anywhere, put security in schools, arm the teachers if they want to be armed. With the money that the US sent to Ukraine we could have put 2 cops in every school across the country. Kill the dawn criminals instead of coddling them, punish their families too, it's funny how members of the shooters family knew something g was up but they were too busy checking out what underwear Kim Kardasian is wearing to notice that their kid is building an arsenal in their room. Hold police criminally liable for blatant dereliction of duty. How many officers were at that high-school afraid to get shot? If you don't do your job and it results in someone else's death, in some cases you can be held criminally liable. But in all seriousness, lock the dawn schools so that people cant just walk in and start shooting. My daighyers elementary school and high-school here in Chicago were locked up, you couldn't get in through any door, you could only get in through the main door, and you had to be buzzed in from the main office by someone who sees you on camera. If they see you holding an AR then they don't buzz you in and have the cops come and shoot you.

@bazileia9222 because the rest of the world doesn't have the same constitution as us and the same protections on rights as us. It's OK in Canada to activate emergency war powers to crush a peaceful protest, it's ok in Russia and the UK and China to arrest journalists, it's ok in Germany and in China to arrest people for saying the wrong things, and it's ok in most of the world to take people guns away.

@sylvainmichaud2262 i agree, get rid of the filibuster, that way when republicans take the house and senate in the midterms they can pass laws to ban abortion on a federal level across the country with just a simple majority vote.

@Fclwilson you are correct, the constitution mentions something about a well regulated militia, it also mentions something about a press and free speech, so maybe you should own a newspaper company before being allowed to speak?

@emceeunderdogrising thats the thing, gun ownership has always been a right since the implementation of 2a, DC v Heller just reafirmed it, it didnt set a precedent where all of a sudden it was now a right with that ruling.

@Benke01 what do law abiding citizens need guns for? for various reasons, but the biggest reason is to stop crime, as stated in the CDC report on gun violence where they stated that up to 3.5 MILLION crimes were stopped with the defensive use of a firearm. tell you what, go ask a rape survivor that protected herself with a gun why she needs a gun.

@amybly1400 really, consequences are totally different for voting than for getting a firearm? tell me, how did Hitler get into power? how did the Chinese Communist Party gain their power to be allowed to run concentration camps? tell me, how did the US invade Iraq and who put those people in position? just because voting cant be directly tied to a death does not mean that those votes dont put people into power that push policies that result in death. now for your driving, if it was treated like gun ownership, you would never be allowed to drive again. as to your other important point, yea, drivers have to be licensed, but how many drivers get to keep their licenses and still drive while incurring infractions? i know of people with multiple DUI's on thier record and till get to keep their car and drive. plenty of people with felony convictions still get to drive. but any felony on your record and no guns for you. i can go out and drive drunk and get caught and i might wind up with a fine or probation, maybe a little time in prison, but once thats all over i get to come out and drive again. shoot a gun off for no reason and see if they let you have another one. as for "some people", there you go, some people, not all people, but then again, point to which country has a constitution that protects your right to drive? point to which country even considers your ability to drive a right and not a privilege? there you go

@AdamBladeTaylor silly question, but I guess in Canada you don't have the right to own guns so it's not a punishment. But let's say the government took away your car because of drunk drivers in another country, would you view it as a reward?

All it takes is for the government to raise the taxes on fuel to the point thar you can't afford it, they are not taking away your car, just making it impossible for you to drive it, same difference. You think governments can't take something away? They are working on taking away your guns, but you keep on believing that they won't take stuff away.

@Benke01 and you are wrong on everything you just said. SCOTUS said its not the polices job to protect you, and police can only stop a crime if they are there when the crime starts. And yea, give every woman a gun and see how fast rapes stop. As for the CDC, they DID a study on gun vience by order of Obama in 2013, and they concluded that up to 3.5 million crimes are stopped by guns. Maybe you should google before opening your dumb mouth.

@AdamBladeTaylor yea, criminals buy guns without checks, so sure, pass some new fancy law that requires more checks, that will definitely make the criminals obey now wont it? And oh yea, the famous "gun show loophole" which doesn't exist. If you go to a gun show and you buy a gun at the gun show, every vendor there has to do a background check, if you are buying a gun from some shady dude in the parking lot, are you really buying it at the gun show or are you buying it from some shady dude in a parking lot?

There are more mass shootings in Chicago in 1 month by criminals with stolen guns than in high-school by deranged lunatics in a whole year. you know whats sad about this, the US did do plenty about this, there are 20,000 gun laws on the federal and state and local level across the US and none of them have worked. doing the bare minimum would be making schools a harder target, but instead the government leaves schools as a soft and inviting target while feverishly working on a way to take away its citizens rights.
