  3. When Nora asked that question of the fire chief - did your DEI efforts cause or contribute to the issues with the FD’s response to these fires - she almost apologized for asking the question. Like “I’m so sorry I have to ask you this, but you know what those evil Republicans out there are saying”. And when the Chief said “no, our focus has always been on saving people and property” (or something like that), Nora should have had ready the film clip from when the Chief was first appointed, where she said that her primary focus was going to be on adding lots more gay women. Good grief.

  5. I am totally happy to have a woman be a firefighter, but their qualification should be based on the same old standards that were set when it was only men in that role. There was a good reason for those standards, and it had to do with the requirements of that job. If a woman can meet those standards, that would be fine. And maybe DEI had nothing to do with this disastrous situation. But, having these LGBTQ women in high positions in the department when their primary focus is assuring everyone that they are gay and they are female just tells you that their priorities are skewed away from doing the job.
