Pete Hegseth sounds like a new Christian - I just found God in January of this year, and I sound very much the same. I’m all about Jesus! Fortunately, my husband and friends don’t mind. :)

She is sweet, and I know that Megyn loves her, but I just don’t think she has a lot to contribute to the discussion. She has a gossip column type angle that I just don’t connect with.

Yes, I love the “first through the door” story - that is a leader!!

God came into my life earlier this year, and I am all about Jesus now. He sounds a lot like me. Fortunately, my husband loves it, and my friends don’t mind. :)

Seems to me that Neely had previously been actually sent to a rehab facility, as a result of some prior arrest, but they allowed him to leave after just a short stay. The system totally f’d this up, and allowed it to fall on Daniel Penny to clean up the mess.

Daniel Penny should be celebrated by everyone, especially the people in New York. There isn’t any evidence that I have heard that indicates that Penny acted recklessly or with any hostility at all. As to that video where some woman is saying “let him go” - we don’t know if that person just showed up on the platform and didn’t know what had happened previously, and just saw a white guy choking a black guy.

On the Daniel Penny case, I had read that the jury had to decide on the manslaughter charge first, before they could move onto the lesser charge. So, I am thinking that, in the jury instructions, they were told that they had to either convict or acquit on the manslaughter charge first and, if they acquitted on manslaughter, then they could move to consider the lesser charge. That was my impression. Retired attorney here, although my area wasn’t criminal law.

I am 67 years old, and God just came into my life earlier this year. I have to admit that I sound a little like Pete, especially in times of stress. Maybe it is just because it is still relatively new to me, but I look to Jesus for help, guidance, and support, and I want everyone to know about it. Fortunately, my husband loves it, and my friends don’t mind. :)

I think that the “reasonableness” test is a objective standard. What would a reasonable person, in this situation, believe needed to be done? So, did Penny act “reasonably” with the amount of force that a reasonable person, under those circumstances, would have believed was required?

I would have preferred a nominee with more of an executive background myself. But, Trump should get who he believes that he needs.

Why is all of this stuff from people’s personal lives material to their they can go a good job in the position for which Trump has nominated them? If they haven’t actually been convicted of any crimes, I really don’t care. Can they do the job or not? And, if we looked that hard into the lives of these Senators and the people dragging all of this stuff out, we would probably find some crap that doesn’t look good for them either.

Well said!

Maybe he is just not used to talking about it in public. God just came into my life earlier this year, and I sound a lot like Pete. Jesus is in the front of my mind and His name is mentioned often in my conversations with my husband and friends. But, if I ended up in the public eye and tried to do the same thing, it would probably sound fake and forced, because it would be personally uncomfortable to expose myself in that way to the public.

Here’s a part of what Joni Ernst (spelling?) is running up against. I think that it is great that she had stood up for women in the military being sexually assaulted. But, it is too easy to stray into the “believe all women” lane, and start to think that anytime a woman accuses a men of sexual assault, all of our reason (and our constitutional based ‘innocent until proven guilty’) goes out the window.
