  6. Sonny live in East LA in the barrio.  Work in West LA.  Learn Spanish.  Homies no longer live in gangs but still live in the barrio where it is cheap.

My opinion is that Japan has not gotten cheaper but places like the U.S. have gotten much more expensive.  Housing costs are not rising so much in Japan since there is not the population pressure like the U.S. and other countries.  Japan also has a much more simple lifestyle.  I think also the Japanese are much better at organizing things than Americans.  Maybe others can offer their reasons.  I would not have expected this but times change.
