Promotion of the RBL poppy signifies one's support for the British government's overarching tyranny, that relies on the organised limitless violence of its willing executioners for both: its own protection and the infliction of imperial atrocities, such as those seen in Afghanistan and Iraq.

My avatar depicts the poppy emblem for the Royal British Legion, which is a charity that solicits donations for all past, present and future members of Britain's armed forces and their dependants. For example, those who voluntarily enlisted in the RAF that Theresa May (in 2018) ordered to bomb an alleged chemical weapons site in Syria, in the middle of the night, in violation of international law, just before the weapons inspectors were to arrive and with no need for parliamentary approval, will be recipients of poppy appeal cash and do not in any way fit your deferential description; which whether intended or not, serves as a cynical human shield argument to shame legitimate criticism of our all-powerful "lockdown" oppressor. Even hangmen frown on murder. Those who work in abattoirs, vivisection and abortion clinics may be among the most charming one might meet, but that obviously has no bearing on the morality of their occupations.
