Tesla doesn't make any engine, just motors. There is a big difference.

Teach'EM Jesus, the highest 0-60 time would be embarrassing. You mean the lowest 0-60 time.

Fastest production car? Hah, no. That's still the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport. Quickest? Maybe.
17
Yeah, and it wasn't even best in class in 05...

+HumbleMechanic hint hint, eh?

This is your brain. This is EE. This is your brain on EE. Partnership for An EE-educated America.

I’ve already seen a dozen on the roads. They’re not just prototypes

Right. A CVT is mechanical, whereas the Regera uses a fluid drive that I don't understand. XP

Yeah, 30-50% improvements are HUGE. Imagine this combined with Nissan's variable compression ratio tech!

Yes, you can, as long as the oil changes are completed on time. BMWs with the M54 inline-6 use a "CCV" system (crankcase ventilation system) that does just that. Problem is, the CCV system in those engines is all plastic, and will eventually crack; especially in cold climates, where the oil vapors/residue/water can freeze overnight. In bad cases, CCV failure has caused hydrolocked engines, when the engine has sucked oil directly into the combustion chambers from the oil pan.

PIK Oh man, I vaguely recall that whole mess. Would be interesting to see where it went had it not been banned.
2
That's what the engine oil port is for. It stabilizes the movement.

The window drop feature is on my 03 530i. By pressing and holding lock/unlock, I can raise/lower all for windows and the sunroof. I would expect all cars to have that now, but nope...
2
TheEdudo Yeah, the BMW CCV system still allows a lot of blow-by into the intake stream, too.

Hans Göran Högström Yeah, that safe and reliable system is called a "catch can." ;)

Konstantin Lokostov All new tech is unreliable at first. Give it some time (the gasoline internal combustion engine's had 70+ years of engineering development) and it will be great.

Crazylalalalala Yes, things are becoming more expensive. Average selling price of new cars is well past $30k now. With more tech and engineering than ever before even in your basic Corolla, more training is required to fix the problems that will inevitably arise. However, people don't repair things anymore; they replace them. That's part of the problem. Replacing the ABS module in my 03 BMW at the dealer would have cause $1200+, but having it repaired by a local company was $150. YMMV.

I would really appreciate a bit more sound deadening in the room you use to lessen the echoes that I hear. But otherwise, I am always excited to see what's next!

Finally, I know what that giant bulb does! Have you considered a video on brake fluid? I just bought some low viscosity fluid for my car.
1
Yes, and a similar tech is on BMW's M54 engines from the early 2000s, though admittedly it's not as variable as this is.
1
Right, it looks awesome. Like Hilborn stacks on rods.

Note that recent Dinan suspension modifications have actually been softer than OE. Better ride and better grip.
