  2. The act of seppuku was not only used to avoid capture. In cases where there was a grave loss of honor or face a warrior might commit seppuku as a act to reclaim his honor. Or a Japanese Daiymo could order a subordinate samurai to commit seppuku for almost any reason and the samurai would have to obey for his life belonged to his daimyo.
