  1. It is easy to condemn Mr. Vandenburg but until you have walked a mile in his shoes try and avoid passing judgement. If it came down to protecting your family over people you don't know most people would do exactly the same thing. I am not saying he was right, it was a despicable act but none of us will know what pressures he was under that caused him to make such a choice.

  2.  @lauriewise6271  It is easy to SAY don't betray someone to save your skin. It is something entirely different to actually do it and sacrifice the lives of your family and yourself in the process. If I was in that situation and my families very survival depended on me keeping them safe I would probably use any tool at my disposal to do so. I think most people would do the same. So do not judge him to harshly.

  3. The US should stop viewing Russia as an adversary and embrace them. Culturally we have more in common with them than the Chinese. We should partner with them and help boost their economy and infrastructure and partner with them making them a manufacturing powerhouse so we can take that away from the Chinese. Any efforts to resist Chinese expansion, Russian military might is going to be needed.

  4. @Joshua Carrillo It is sad that you hold so little regard for family. That they mean nothing more to you than some random person on the street. It has nothing to do with ego but love. I love my family and they mean more to me than some random person I don't know.

  5. @Joshua Carrillo I can tell you have never had to make a tough choice in your life. It is easy to be a keyboard warrior in your parents basement but I would be willing to bet your decision making process would be very different if you had to walk a mile in his shoes. If I had to turn over names of people I didn't know so my children could live I would do it without hesitation. My children are MY BLOOD and I would sacrifice my life if necessary so they could live.

  8. @Iflyfree always Have you ever heard the phrase hindsight is always 20/20. The people of the time had no idea the holocaust was going on. All they knew is that the Jews were being evacuated to the east. Nobody knew about what was going on until after the war. So you can not say that this man knew the Jews he was betraying to the Nazi's were going to be murdered.

  15. The problem with your line of thought is you are forgetting one variable, black CULTURE. Have you ever heard the phrase you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink? Black culture in America REJECTS education and views it as trying to be white. There is a reason blacks are falling further and further behind and it has nothing to do with racism and everything to do with their own culture.

However, he probably had to provide constant and reliable information to keep the Nazi's from sending his family to concentration camps. The Franks were probably just one family out of hundreds that he turned over to the Nazi's.

  25. As an American, if my Government was involved in any way, I 100% DENOUNCE this senseless act of violence. While I do not agree with Iran's government or their policies, I have no animosity towards the Iranian people and my thoughts and prayers are with them.
