I would be willing to bet it is more to prevent inbreeding. As a self segregating community inbreeding can become an issue.

@johnythewalrusontwitter5768 Thank you for your response. I grew up in Rockville MD and we have a huge Jewish community but it is mostly secular Jews. You see some Hasidic Jews but not that many. I love learning about other cultures and have always wanted to learn about Hasidic culture but I felt like it would be rude to approach a Hasidic Jew and start asking them questions about their culture. I loved this series on the Hasidic, I wish I was born into it because they seem to have it aka life figured out.
