You would be incorrect. We invaded Afghanistan in 2001, Iraq in 2003.

I laugh when I see statements like that. opium or oil has nothing to do with any of these recent wars. Oil and heroine is chump change compared to the BUSINESS of war. We were spending a BILLION dollars a day in Iraq. Sine 2001 we have spent TRILLIONS of dollars on the business of war. Which is why we never seem to win them, there is no money in winning wars. The real money is doing just enough to keep the conflict going indefinitely. Since 2001 2,312 troops were killed in Afghanistan that is less than 5% the casualties than Vietnam a war that was only half as long. The military industrial complex learned from their mistakes in Vietnam and kept combat losses low enough to not inflame the massive antiwar protests Vietnam did. Since there were not images of multiple flag draped coffins coming off military transports every day the apathetic American public just didn't care about the war in Afghanistan so it was allowed to continue for two decades without accomplishing a thing.

The women of Afghanistan are about to learn the lie the west told them that women are equal to men the hard way.

What you fail to realize is because the military industrial complex holds massive influence over foreign policy it has never been our policy to win a war since WW2. There is no money to be made in winning wars, the money is in doing just enough to keep them going indefinitely.
