Funny how the OHP's can take more damage than the Moskva lol.

I remember doing the last JRTC at Fort Chaffee Arkansas before it was moved to Ft Polk.

If a conflict with China broke out how many F-35's could they cram on there? Wikipedia says 36 max but that seems light for a ship of that size.

The nose and cockpit arrangement reminds me of a very small B-36.

@Lowdo1549 I served in the light infantry from 1991-1995. When I went to the NCO academy there was a female soldier who was a STUD. In the PT test she did 96 push ups 98 sit-ups and did the two mile run in 10:13 ALL better than I did. By the PT standard she was more qualified to be in the infantry than I was. However, when we went to the field carrying ridiculously light rucks of 35 pounds. As a standard rifleman she could keep up humping here gear through the bush just fine but when it was her turn to carry the radio or as as the M-60 gunner she struggled to keep up and slowed the whole platoon down. From a physical fitness standard she was ELITE, in better physical condition than 99% of the women on the planet yet she was a liability in the field. At my actual unit I never carried anything under 70 pounds in my ruck. I could hump 120 pounds of gear 23 klicks through some of the roughest terrain in Hawaii and still be combat effective at the end of the movement. There isn't a woman on the planet who could have served in my unit and had been anything other than a liability. Heck between 40 and 70% of the new privates we got fresh out of boot camp would be gone in the first 24 months, they couldn't hack it.

@Kriss_L Yep but the unspent fuel went a long way into turning the Stark into a raging inferno. It got so hit the aluminum superstructure started burning.
3
@HMS King George V The Hood did not have a wooden deck, it had teak OVER the weather deck. Five of Hood's decks were armored with thicknesses varying from .75 to 3 inches (19 to 76 mm)

Only low IQ individuals think that. The F-35 is a game changing aircraft and seal clubs F-15, 16, and 18's in training every day. The F-16 is still considered one of the worlds best fighters and it has almost no chance in a dogfight with an F-35.
3
@chrisklitou7573 It is not less agile then competitors. The F-35 is not an energy fighter like an F-15, 16, or 18, it is a post stall maneuver fighter. It fights in a different way, a way the F-15, 16, and ,18 can't. There is a reason why it seal clubs them in training all day. It is not slower than its competitors where it counts. Functional speed. The fact that it carries its weapons internally and doesn't suffer parasitic drag it has a cruise speed around 50 knots faster than an F-16 carrying an identical fuel and payload. The F-16 has to use afterburner to keep up with an F-35 cutting it's range. The F-35's avionics are a full generation ahead of ANYTHING else in the air today. The pilot has unmatched situational awareness and in a fight whoever sees the enemy first is almost always the victor.

That is because women in infantry units can never be anything more than a liability. In the name of social justice we are literally weakening the combat ability of the military.
2
@Wooden_Spoonn True, women are more than twice as likely as their male counterparts to have knee, tendon and cartilage damage. That leads to lower availability rates and the male soldiers have to work harder to make up for the missing female soldiers.
2
Technically the USS Stark got hit with two exocets.
2
@HMS King George V I know, I was just busting your chops. Although I think you know he meant a new ship named Hood not another Battlecruiser.
2
Those ships are a waste, poorly designed. You would think that the British would ask for support from their closest ally in America in designing these carriers but NNNNOOOOOOOO. The ignore the nearly 60 years of experience of designing and operating super carriers to go it alone. They would have been better off buying the retired Kitty Hawk class carriers from the USN and refurbishing them. At least they would have functional carriers.
2
@bobthebomb1596 I would suggest you do the same. The Marines did a study that showed that mixed units perform significantly lower in almost every task than all male units. The truth is that women in an infantry unit can never be anything more than a liability. I served with the 25th ID 3/22 Inf from 91-95. There wasn't a woman on the planet who could have served in my unit.
2
@Backs4more True, she was military intelligence. From a physical fitness standpoint she was in the 99 percentile . True she was not used to being in the field and carrying a ruck but at PLDC the weight of the gear we were carrying was a joke compared to what we carried in a line unit. The rucks were 30 to 35 pounds.
2
@williamschmidt495 I never got a worse case of chiggers than I got at Ft Chafee lol.
1
lol the canopy was not up moron, that was the lift fan hatch.
1
34% body fat for women!!!!! At 34% body fat they are OBESE.
1
When I was in it was the unit at NTC that was the most hated. We did alright at JRTC but we got our asses kicked so bad at NTC that the opfor was chasing us down the runway as we were leaving to go home lol.
1
Say a massive ground war breaks out and the UK takes a lot of losses in tanks. How quickly can they make replacements? Todays military equipment is so complex and takes so long to produce nations could lose wars by losing a lot of its equipment with no replacements being available.

The oil industry will buy the company and bury the technology. Like they do every time another tech comes along that threatens their ability to enslave the world.
1
Well women are walking mental health issues. Have you ever known a woman who wasn't over emotional and irrational?
1
I would use it for sniping. Watching a soldier turn into a pink mist would be very demoralizing.
1
@Kriss_L I remember studying the Stark incident in Navy Bootcamp in 87. When Aluminum burns you can't use water to put it out. It is the opposite, water acts like a fuel to burning aluminum and they poured over 40 tons of water on it to no avail and nearly capsized the ship. It wasn't until they realized that and switched to a chemical foam were they able to extinguish the flames.
1
Stealth aircraft that are limited in payload and range because of the lack of a catapult. Heck not having an aircraft like the E2-D Advanced Hawkeye alone eliminates and advantage the F-35B's give them. I will also point out that the Ford will be retrofitted so it can operate the much more capable F-35C. The USS JFK the second Ford class carrier will be commissioned with the ability to operate the F-35's.
1
Can Challenger two's be upgraded to the Challenger three standard?
1
@rayhan_2k841 ROFLMAO The QE is a TOY compare to the Ford, the QE more closely compares to the WASP class amphibious ships of the USN.
1
@chrisklitou7573 And VTOL is pointless? The British carriers can't operate without it.
1
Man that ship is ugly.
1
Parents who let their kids become obese should be charged with child abuse.
1
F-35's will blow them out of the sky before those Mig's or Sukhois even know they are there. Russian military equipment is trash.
1
ROFLMAO, no it is not even close to being as advanced as the Ford, it doesn't even have catapults or arresting gear for crying out loud so it isn't even a proper aircraft carrier.

All these European countries have gotten by for DECADES with having the US as an ally. They have let their militaries shrink to unreasonable levels because they had the US backing them and they felt they didn't have to worry. As the United States is nearing its inevitable collapse these European nations better be ready to defend themselves without the United States being there to help them.
1
They should yank those guns out and replace them with anti ship missiles.
1
It probably could if it had too, for safety reasons they don't push it to its full capability.
1
@qiyuxuan9437 Also the Carrier was DOCKED not making 30 knots in the open seas for added airflow over the wings. That makes a big difference.
