Technology has jumped forward so fast since the F-22 entered service from a technology standpoint the F-22 is already obsolete and has a lot of dead end technology in it.

I wonder if these numbers are a psyop. War is big business and it seems like the military industrial complex is beating the war drums for a war with China. They could be under reporting these numbers to make the Chinese think we are weaker than we are so they will do something stupid like try and invade Taiwan.
10
Storing T-55's is useless because a single platoon of 4 M1A2 SEP 3 tanks could destroy hundreds of them without suffering a loss.
10
So think of this strategy as not for engaging Chinese warships but Chinese merchant and fishing vessels. To win a war with China the United States will not have to defeat the Chinese militarily. All they have to do is choke off their merchant and fishing fleets and the Chinese will be forced to surrender in a matter of weeks.
10
Yeah, there are only two 5th gen fighters. The fake knockoffs of China and Russia are merely propaganda pieces.
9
The Soviets would have been roflstomped. The Allies gain air superiority quickly, they gain complete naval superiority. No lend lease, and far less reserves in manpower. Even without nukes the Russians would have been stomped pretty easily.
7
Is it capable of preying on Drop Bears?
6
The Soviets would have been smashed with little effort. Their ground forces were poorly trained and even poorly led, they relied on outnumbering the Germans 10-1 to simply wear them down. Having to fight an enemy with near equal numbers the Soviets would get MAULED. The American Navy would blockade the Soviet union, cut off supplies that were coming from America. The USAF would achieve total air superiority in a matter of days and the aerial bombing of Soviet formations with impunity would begin.
5
@arjovenzia Wow so they have a symbiotic relationship. It probably works great for nabbing tourists out on bird watching trips.

It will be much cheaper because it will use off the shelf mature technology, cutting development costs. It will be open architecture, meaning new tech can be rapidly prototypes and installed...gone are the days of being held hostage to defense contractors by proprietary systems. Digital engineering cuts down the time and cost of development by massive margins. The USAF strategy is to buy small numbers of incremental aircraft. For example they may buy 100 F-100's and 5 years later buy 100 F-101's and 5 years later buy 100 F-102's. etc. Gone are the days of having a plane in service for 40 years. Since they will be buying rapidly developed aircraft every few years they will only have to build aircraft with a 2000 flight hour life span or less. Not 6000 or more like they are build now. So you will get much lighter aircraft that are cheaper to build.
4
The US better revive its ANTSAT weapons program because this thing will need to be taken out in the opening moments of a conflict.
3
@dellavega2568 LOL Yes they could. A T-55 can not penetrate the frontal armor of a M1 at 20 feet. The M1's would destroy them as fast as the loaders could load the guns.
3
Thrust vectoring is useless in actual combat. It is HEAVY and expensive.
3
Makan Persia the Shaw and America were close allies

@lucastekkan The Airforce has already flown a preproduction model of the NGAD fighter in secret. I remember last year when I said the 6th gen fighter was going to be in service a lot sooner than people think I was laughed at. My prediction is you are going to see an aircraft that looks like a small B-2 or B-21. It will fly really high, be capable of really high super cruise speeds, have a range of thousands of miles and payload of at least 20 air to air missiles. It is not going to be a turn and burn fighter, it is going to be a difficult to detect long range missile truck able to detect and engage enemy targets long before it is ever detected. I make this prediction based off a article I read where much of the tech from the B-21 program is being used in the NGAD program.
2
You realize that the Mig-35 and SU-35 are simply upgraded MIG-29's and SU-27's so are they outdated 40 year old designs as well? The F-15EX is not outdated by any measure.
2
@chrischuba5037 I suggest you study your history sir. The Russians produced more T-34's during the war than the German Army produced ALL types of armored combat vehicles. They produced a total of 109,815 armored fighting vehicles during the war and the Germans, 49,777, split among multiple fronts. The Russians were nothing more than cannon fodder on the Eastern Front they just had an endless supply of men and equipment that the Germans couldn't overcome.
2
@chrischuba5037 As far as Japanese troops in Manchuria...BIG DEAL. The Japanese had the worst tanks of the war and were totally incapable of fighting against a armored force. They were brave and tough but that didn't stop the US from ROFLESTOMPING them all over the Pacific.
2
No the F-22 will be replaced by a 6th gen fighter that is light years more advanced than the F-22.
2
@imjustthere9343 The Indians tested the SU-57 when the Russians were trying to sell it to them, and they said it wasn't stealthy, and the avionics were comparable to an F-16 Block 52. Hardly 5th generation.
2
@lawrenceng7971 Please, if there was an actual conventional war, China would fare no better than Iraq. The US would sweep their army from the field in days.

Funny how uninformed people are about the F-35 https://www.dvidshub.net/news/208740/f-35a-completes-largest-deployment-date The F-35 had a 110-0 kill ratio against F-15's and F-16's operating as Red Air. As far as it's ability to maneuver https://theaviationist.com/2016/03/01/heres-what-ive-learned-so-far-dogfighting-in-the-f-35-a-jsf-pilot-first-hand-account/ Again you are wrong, as per the typical F-35 critic. High on claims about the F-35. Low on actual information about the F-35.
1
Orange Dragon There ARE no articles that back up your point. At least by qualified sources. The only people who are critical of the F-35 are Armchair generals who have never flown a F-35. https://theaviationist.com/2016/06/27/f-15e-strike-eagles-unable-to-shoot-down-the-f-35s-in-8-dogfights-during-simulated-deployment/ The F-15 is pretty much helpless against the F-35
1
It will be in service by 2028.
1
@kichigaisensei Roger that.
1
Ummm The F-15EX can carry up to 22 air to air missiles.
1
I think the Wedgetail should have a small rotary bay launcher for 8 AIM-260 missiles for self defense.

There was a game called Reforger 88 that modeled this situation on my Atari 800. Playing as the west I would jut give up most of Germany without firing a shot. I would dig in behind the river around Frankfurt, blow all the bridges and prepare to fight. I used all my air power to wear down the Soviet Airforce and gain air superiority. Reinforcements were flooding into Rammstein AFB making my defensive line stronger every day. When the Soviets got to my defensive line I switched to tactical bombing and view all the bridges behind the Soviets cutting their supply points. After repulsing multiple major attacks that failed I would counter attack, break out and roll up the Soviet flanks like a carpet. After smashing their armies in Germany there was almost nothing between Berlin and Moscow and the Soviets would sue for peace.
1
@Nostalgiagate6392 By brilliant you mean operations against the shattered German Army that was operating without air support and had to deal with constant fuel shortages, constant shortages in armored fighting vehicles due to troubles with maintaining and repairing them. The Japanese forces in Manchuria were largely made up of poorly trained reservists who were poorly equipped as well. These operations only seemed brilliant because it was no contest from the beginning.
1
@Nostalgiagate6392 They were shattered from a combined allied effort. The strategic bombing campaign against the German war machine dramatically curtailed production. I will also add in that Hitler trying to micromanage the war is probably the biggest reason they lost. If he would have given his commanders operational flexibility in the field debacles like Stalingrad could have been avoided. Non of his generals thought Kursk was a good idea and him delaying the campaign so the new Panthers and Tigers could reach the front allowed the Soviets to prepare a defense in depth. I personally believe the war was over after Stalingrad, there was no hope for victory after that.

Really???? Have you ever heard of the Rothschilds? They are Zionists who have been in the international finance game for hundreds of years. They have publicly stated that they want to have a single world currency that they would control. Their exact words are you can have any form of government you wish as long as we control the currency. Guess what nations in the middle east had banking systems free of the Rothschild's control? Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Iran. Gee no coincidence there.
1
Here is what I can't figure out about Muslims. How are you going to believe that a pedophile could be the prophet from any "God" that is supposed to be good?
1
lol You realize the Arabs were huge players in the slave trade right. In fact slavery was still legal in parts of the middle east until the 1950's. It is funny how slavery in all but name is practiced in the middle east today. Before you respond....I have been to Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE......so I know what it is like there.
1
It is not that Arabs can not fight. It is more like they mad bad strategic and tactical decisions in the wars with Israel that cost them the wars. Also Israeli soldiers were in general better trained and motivated to fight than their Arab counterparts. As a individual fighting man though, I have great respect for the Arab soldier...tough, very brave, and not at all afraid to fight.
1
LOL It is Russian so the only thing it will dominate is burned out hulks on the battlefield.
1
WRONG, If Israel could make a nickel they would betray an ally like the United States in a SECOND.
1
I was in a US Army Light Infantry Division, the 25th ID. During Wargames we used to stomp the crap out of the Marines all day, every day, and twice on Sundays!!!!!
1
Keeping the old 707 airframes of the E-3 Sentry is getting harder and harder as well as expensive.
1
LOL The F-22 is functionally obsolete. It's avionics were designed in the 1980's. Your Iphone has more computing power than the F-22's computers. Hate to break it to you, it flew and as a hint it has optical stealth technology.....it will be nearly impossible to spot with the naked eye as well as radar.
1
@soumyajitsingha9614 With AI and advanced computer controlled flight laws you can get a plane to maneuver loke a thrust vectored aircraft. You see the F-35 do flat spin pedal turns and other maneuvers that people though was impossible without thrust vectoring.
1
@soumyajitsingha9614 I thing the NGAD be a HUGE aircraft roughly a 2/3 scale B-21. It will have an unrefueled range of at least 3,000 miles and carry at least 20 air to air missiles. It will cruise between 60 and 70 thousand feet. I do not believe it is going to be a turn and burn fighter, I think the AI drones will handle close in dogfights if there ever is one. I believe the aircraft will also incorporate VISUAL stealth technology as the skin will be like an LCD panel capable of projecting images like the sky and clouds around it. It will be incredibly difficult to detect visually.
1
Without the desperation of an invasion and without IS lend Lease Soviet industry would have been a fraction of what it was in WW2.
1
Please the USN would have swept the pathetic German navy from the Seas and the Russian navy posed no threat. So no invasion of England would have been possible.
1
@cengizhan8129 I guess you don't bother to study actual history, right? In all those conflicts you mentioned, the US Forces had an overwhelming advantage in enemies killed and casualties sustained. There is a big difference in combat in the field and occupation and pacification of the local population. In a military conflict, the forces of China would be swept from the field with little effort. Our training would be 5x harder than defeating the Chinese military. Occupying China, and pacifying the population, is another situation entirely.
