  1. A bullet is a piercing weapon. Kevlar alone would not stop a spear but if they had a ballistic plate then yes it would work against spears or arrows.

  3. I watched the interview with the alleged soldier who was there and I am going to call BS on this. First no infantry soldier is going to call a checkpoint and a rally point the same thing. They are two completely different things. Second it is doubtful that a search and rescue team is going to carry a Barrett .50 cal let alone three of them. Third, an ambush is a close quarter engagement you do not call for close air support or artillery support. By the time you did you would all be dead. When I was a grunt the SOP for an ambush was to immediately assault through the kill zone. We were taught that closing with the enemy as quickly as possible was your best chance at surviving. Fourth, why would they be carrying 5.56mm and 7.62mm weapons? Having a common caliber means if you run out of ammo in a fire fight anyone can toss you ammo. Lastly a giant armed with a spear appears and you have a weapon with an effective range of 300 meters with the 5.56mm why would you try and close the distance? No infantry soldier with an IQ over 15 is going to do that.
