For the douche bags who think they should be allowed to wear mink coats, I think I should be allowed to wear your head as a hat!

If you ever find out who sole your mink's drop me a line and I will hop on a plane immediately and kill those motherfuckers as slowly and painfully as I know how.

Hey Joe, I am in the pest control business, I think a couple of these guys would be great for dealing with rats. Much better than using poison in my opinion.

Joseph Carter isn't evolution amazing, they are perfect little killing machines wrapped up in the cutest packages. Why would anyone wish to wear one as a coat..........sick bastards!

I don't know what it is but just watching them run makes me laugh. They are so cute and it breaks my heart that anyone would want to kill one for it's fur.

Cuteness overload

I just wish the mink could dispatch the muskrat quickly to limit suffering.

Joseph Carter Currently we don't use gas, it's to dangerous. My preferred method is something called tracking powder. It is a powder that you shoot down the burrow with a air pump. You than fill in the burrow. Repeat the process at EVERY hole you can find. The rats are forced to dig their way out an in the process get the powder all over themselves. Contrary to what people think, rats groom themselves constantly so that is how they ingest it. I go back to the site once a week, retreat any holes that have been pushed out, fill them back in and repeat. This strategy works perfectly every time but it can take one to three months depending on how large the colony is. I had a colony that was established in the planters around a large dumpster pad. There were so many burrows it looked like the surface of the moon and there were so many rats it smelled like the primate gage at the zoo. I treated it every Monday for three months, the maintenance guys would break my balls after every visit saying the next few days they were picking up dead rats in the parking lot lol. Once they were eradicated, it has been 4 years with no new activity.

A Pumpkins We gotta think of something that isn't low hanging fruit. I troll gamers all the time.....easy. Conspiracy theorists......frustrating because they are to stupid to know they are being trolled. Animal lovers...that fruit is so low it's practically on the ground...any ideas.

As someone who has worked in Pest Management in the Washington DC/Baltimore MD area and have dealt with MASSIVE infestations I have to disagree with your take on poison. In order for poison to be effective in a huge rat population the most important thing is you must rotate poisons with different active ingredients. Rats will build up an immunity to warfarin for example VERY quickly. By rotating the type of poison every couple of weeks it will help prevent immunity. Second poison bait alone will not work, I used something called tracking powder. You inject small amounts into their burrows and then fill them in. The rats have no choice to dig themselves out and they will get some powder on them and inject it when they groom themselves. In that specific situation I think your method is better because it is less risky to the animals. After your visit what they need to do is manually fill in all the rat holes and check them every day. Wherever holes have been cleared will indicate where any remaining rat activity is and allow them to target specific areas and keep the population under control before it explodes into a serious problem.

Do the mink ever get hurt? Muskrats have big teeth.

Did this guy clam down a bit once he got used to his new environment and his new owner?
1
Joseph Carter hehehe they couldn't catch them because I wasn't on the job ;) Rats are very smart, mice are even worse. I tried for four months before I was able to catch him. It was a lot of moving traps around and different baits. As far as rats go I run into large outdoor colonies where there might be 60 rats living in massive burrow complexes. Could you send down two minks to wreak havoc? Using pellets and dust will still take multiple visits over a month or more to eradicate them all. The risk of secondary poisoning of non target animals is high and I don't like that.

Joseph Carter Would Ferrets be as effective?
1
Joseph Carter What about Cats, can Mink get along with them? I have two indoor cats. One is a chicken but the other one, if a mouse rat or anything got in the house it would be the last thing it ever did,
1
Joseph Carter Ugh I just saw a video where a terrier killed a mink in 3 seconds. I don't know why people would enjoy setting a terrier on a mink.
1
Joseph Carter lol no doubt. I wonder how it would do against my cat, he is 18 pounds and lean lol I might accident my fall down and squish the poor mink.

KoivuTheHab Did I ever have one?

A Pumpkins roflmao.........I just enjoy throwing out some troll bait and watching people react. Usually I troll conspiracy theorists and gamers but sometimes you gotta branch out.

A Pumpkins I am King of the Trolls.

A Pumpkins back in the day on yahoo instant messenger I would get random messages from Russian chicks who said they were looking for American husbands. They said they just needed enough money for a visa to come over here so we could be together. I would tell them that I would send them the money once my trial was over. They would ask what I was being charged with and I would tell them my x wife and I got in an argument and I "accidentally" stabbed her 47 times with a steak knife. Strangely I never heard from them again.

A Pumpkins My I acknowledge your greatness now sir? We should collaborate on a trolling project.

KoivuTheHab The grammer Nazi's are always fun to troll.
1
A Pumpkins Send me a link so I can check it out. We can troll the anti genetically modified food people.

KoivuTheHab Could it be possible that it is a simple mistake and not an indictment on their intelligence?

Honestly those are common Norway rats, Rattus norvegicus. The Roof Rat or Rattus rattus is black in color, has larger ears, larger eyes and a tail that is longer than the body.
1
Rats are vectors for disease and the diseases they have spread have killed more humans than war.
1
What kind of Dogs are those, I am guessing A Belgian Malinois, a Jack Russell Terrier and the last one has me stumped. It looks like a mix of an Australian Cattle Dog and maybe border collie?
1
@hyperflyer I understand it is painful to watch for some people. Anyone who enjoys hearing an animal squealing in pain is a psychopath. However these rats, the Norway rat are an invasive species. They harm our ecosystem, they are vectors for many diseases such as hantavirus, leptospirosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCMV), Tularemia and Salmonella. Rats cause massive economic damage. In this case specifically eating more feed than the birds were. Their population must be controlled for the safety and welfare of the people living their and their animals. The methods used in this video were the most environmentally friendly way to do so. If I would have used a gas to kill all those rats there would have been a thousand dead rats decaying underground potentially leading to disease, massive amounts of blow flies, etc.
1
Would Badgers be fast enough to catch rats or would the dogs be backup for that purpose?
1
I like how the dogs take ques from their people to help them do their job.
