  1. It is a Norway Rat not a mouse and that is the perfect example of how NOT to place a snap trap. The way it is set if the rat is on the spring part and triggers the trap it will throw him and you will never catch him in a snap trap. You turn the trap 90 degrees to the left so the paddle is against the wall. It will get the rat coming or going and their chances of surviving an encounter with a snap trap goes way down.
