Well the winter had a huge impact on the war on the eastern front. The Russians DID win a war of attrition. The Russians built more T-34's in one month than the Germans build total armored vehicles during the entire war. They also had the benefit of Hitler micromanaging the war. Stalingrad.......served no purpose. Kursk.....gee commit the bulk of your armored forces on a Soviet layered defense. Hitler was a moron and his interference was the biggest reason Germany lost the war. The Russians also never had to face more than 60% of the German armed forces. The rest were committed the western front. If the war would have played out differently and Germany only had the Russians to fight, The Germans would have defeated the Russians easily.

The Italians were one of the reasons Germany lost the war. The Germans should have never saddled themselves with so much dead weight.

I don't blame everything on them, there is also the Hungarians lol

Yes winter effected Russia as well. However Russia did not have to deal with the huge supply lines the Germans did. After the debacle at Stalingrad the war was OVER for Germany. There was no way they could win.

I remember reading about how the Germans built a direct copy of a T-34. The design was rejected for being to crude. They did tend to over engineer their equipment.

@KBKriechbaum I was watching one of the tank museums videos about the T-34 and one of the seams had a gap big enough you could get your finger in it. Unbelievably crude but it does not matter when you can make 84,000 of them lol.

I read in a book the Tornado was nearly impossible to catch at very low level where it could fly at MACH 1.2 at tree top level.
2
They need to bring back modern versions of the bofors 40mm with VT fuses as a defense against drones.
2
@KBKriechbaum Agreed, the T-34 was crude but in the early war period it was the best tank in the world.

I have been telling people for a while now that the 6th gen fighter is MUCH further long than people realize. Using digital engineering, off the shelf mature technology and an open archatecture system the USAF will be able to design and rapidly prototype aircraft. Expect them to buy a couple hundred of them before moving to the next model and so on and so on. Gone are the days of buying a single aircraft for 30 years.

It was better than the Spitfire.

I wonder if they could have fit the Merlin engine they refit the P-51 with in the airframe. With a two stage supercharger its high altitude performance could have been totally different.

Having a woman as defense minister is mistake number one.

The problem with the Italian fighters is they were towing a 50 meter by 50 meter white flag and the drag from that huge white flag impacted the performance of all Italian aircraft.

It was not designed with Stealth in mind it was a coincidence. The Horton brothers believed the flying wing was the most efficient design possible.

Watching this video I wonder if they ever considered using small fast carriers for the commerce raiding role.

NATO would dishrag the Russian air force. Because of budgetary issues Russian pilots barely get any flight hours each month.
