They might not admit it now, but at the time the UK protoWokeist middleclass intelligentsia and literati turned on Rushdie saying the government should not spend money on his protection, because he brought the threats and fatwas upon himself by upsetting the Muslims in ways he could have predicted. Normal Brits did not agree with them. 🇬🇧
