Cults experts distinguish between benign cults and destructive cults.There is s difference between the little church down your street vs the Peoples Temple,Branch Davidians and Heavens Gate and Scientology..Destructive cults like these deceptively recruit people,use pressure,manipulation,coercion and isolate members from family and friends not in the group.They break up families and also practice a brutal form of ostracism for members who leave which have resulted in many suicides.Jehovahs Witnesses practice all these things which is why they are classified as a destructive cult by cult experts.I suggest you research the BITE model by cult expert Steven Hassan to see how benign cults/religions differ from destructive groups.
