The only thing stupid is David Koch. Yes David, even being fully vaccinated you can catch covid from an unvaccinated fellow employee. EXACTLY the same as you can catch it from a fully vaccinated fellow employee. The US CDC has determined both are likely to carry EXACTLY the same viral load. But don't let facts get in the way of a good rant.

"Really illuminating examples Professor"..... really! Anyone who takes even a better than passing interest in the subject will know as much, and exactly where the good professor is getting his number from. It's called the internet, to be precise the Public Health England weekly reports. The rest from him is just BS. Recent research is showing that because breakthrough infection with Delta is so high it is virtually impossible to vaccinate your way out of the problem. Exactly what the Israel situation is now demonstrating. Not only will mass vaccination not stop the problem, it may actually make it considerably worse (by delaying the FAR more effective natural infection of the otherwise healthy low risk sector of the population) and increasing the risk to vulnerable populations.
17
@akeluify The 'jab' does not prevent anyone from getting covid, or transmitting it to another fully vaccinated or un-vaccinated person. As both vaccinated and unvaccinated people carry the exact same viral load they have EXACTLY the same likelihood of infection someone else. If you want the science look for the massive study done in Qatar. If you just want common sense, look at the recent outbreak in fully vaccinated health staff at the Liverpool Hospital.

Good to see. I was loosing faith in my fellow Australian's, seemingly just weak sheep following pointless authoritarian government dictates. This gives me faith there may still be hope for Australia. Even in my area (away from the beach), go for a walk and probably 50% of people are now refusing to wear face masks outside.

What are you expecting to see from the USA trial. That kids participating in the trail didn't get very sick from covid? Any parent who vaccinates an otherwise healthy child (and that includes a healthy weight) should be charged with child abuse. I'm not exaggerating. If parents truly want to protect their children, get them to eat healthy, be active, and maintain a healthy weight. Nothing else is necessary. 20% of USA children are currently classified as medically obese, Australia isn't far behind.

@veronicaacevedo4314 You seem to appreciate people that spread complete 'misinformation'. The science is now settled, current vaccines do NOT prevent infection or transmission of the Delta variant. And it was always unrealistic to every think they would. No current vaccine is effective at stopping transmission of respiratory virus e.g Influenza, Whooping Cough.

The RAAF base at Amberley has unbroken temperature records dating back to 1941 online. It was hotter than today on this date in 1956, 1958, 1971, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2018. It was 3.2C hotter today than the average of all 24 October dates since 1941.

Classic, trot out some grumpy old man to present the pro argument. Bet he also misses the days when they was able to 'coax' an confession from 'criminals' with a length of rubber hose.

@MsThomas138 Crap, there is a TONNE of scientific evidence. The only person uneducated is YOU! Start your education by reading one of the most recent studies 'Waning of BNT162b2 vaccine protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection in Qatar'. In summary, what it says is Pfizer offers little protection in the first couple weeks after the second jab against infection. It goes up for a few weeks and then decreases rapidly and by week 15 protection against infection is minimal, and by week 20 protection against infection is ...... ZERO! Next step in your education is to read up on mucosal immunity. For dummies its the independent immune system that protects your nose and throat. You know, the one that gets completely bypassed and knows next to nothing about covid because they stick the vaccine in your arm.

Boy, about 100 totally wrong responses regarding the CFR (case fatality rate) for covid. The correct answer is there is no single useful CFR. The difference between the CFR for say a healthy 20 year old, so close to zero it may as well be called zero .... compared to the CFR of someone aged 85+ year old (around 25% for a woman, 30% for a man) means that using a single average for the entire population is next to meaningless. P.S. And it various so much by country due to the way they count what is a covid death, the obesity level of the country, the quality of health system etc. etc. etc. Singapore has had 37 people die out of nearly 65,000 cases. Go figure and explain the CFR for that. P.S. And if you think the Singapore government fudges number you clearly have never had dealing with the Singapore Government.

@chrisx5409 The entire population of England is now effectively 'fully vaccinated'. 97.8% of the entire population of England have covid antibodies from either vaccination and/or natural infection.
2
@parabot2 I post a percentage number of people with antibodies in England ..... and get stupidity back from your about subscriptions???? If your advocating something (who knows what it is) I'm sure the best option is to do the complete opposite.
2
@Nathanct43 Not true. 93% of adults in the UK now have covid antibodies from either vaccination or natural infection. Source: UK Health

Perhaps Australia could learn something from our home of democracy ..... "What the Committee also heard, however, was that there are significant areas of scientific uncertainty as regards to transmission, effectiveness of the vaccines, implications of new variants and accuracy of testing. The Government has so far failed to make the scientific case for the introduction of a Covid-status certification, in particular in light of the scientific uncertainties highlighted to the Committee". House of Commons, Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee, June 2021.
2
No, actually the likely 'problem' has been known for a while in other variants. It's been slowly moving around the world so was always going to turn up. If its a 'storm in a tea cup' or a potential total disaster for current generation vaccines is a hot medical debate.
2
Bob Builder You do your cause no good with fringe 'loopey' claims. This just hands 'wins' to the pro-vaccinate everything and everybody crowd by enabling them to dismiss EVERYTHING that doesn't align with their narrative as fringe 'anti-vax' crazy stuff. Genuinely inform yourself on the issues and argue your case from an educated position. There is plenty there without needed to resort to flat-earth claims. As at 27 September the E484K Delta mutation is known to have turned up in 33 countries, with the largest number being in Turkey. That it theoretically has the potential to make current vaccinations useless is something anti mandatory vaccination proponents should fully understand.
2
Glady's 'press conferences' get worse and worse each day. I have watched them with gradually declining interest up till today. But no more, just a total waste of time. Who want to be just spoken down to like school children, especially by the person responsible for the mess in the first place.
2
Any so called 'expert' who claims vaccination will materially alter the rate of infection and transmission is either a deliberate liar, or totally incompetent. The science on vaccination and infection from Delta is now clear, vaccination offers no material protection against infection or onward transmission. That this science is absolutely correct is being borne out in practice in countries like Singapore, Israel, and the UK. As such there is ZERO medical justification for mandatory vaccination, in ANY vocation. As at the 18 September, 60% of health care workers in NSW who tested positive were either fully or partially vaccinated. 70% of aged care workers, the same.
2
@Hillzy_Eighty7 Even the line 'a vaccinated person won't get as sick so less likely to spread covid' doesn't stand up to commons sense analysis. Who is more likely to be in a crowded nightclub, or at work, spreading it to everyone? The infected person with no symptoms, or the infected person feeling more 'under the weather'.
2
It actually is a potential issue. It is likely to be what is unofficially called Delta + (plus). It was always going to turn up as its now found in most countries. It's not a different strain. Its a mutation in the a section of the Delta spike protein at position (E484), hence the name Delta +. In that part of the covid spike protein it is termed an 'immune escape' mutation. From that name you can probably figure why health authorities and researchers around the world are closely watching it. The most concerning laboratory studies are making statements like 'current vaccines (based on the original Wuhan virus characteristics) are now just one covid mutation away from being near totally ineffective'.
2
What Best and Less need to do is employ full time security guards, at considerable expense, to man all their entrances like my local Coles is currently doing. Half a sleep totally bored and disinterested people standing around not giving a crap if people just pretend and wave their phones at the QR code, or sign in manually as Elvis Presley. This is essential to 'keep us all safe'.
1
Don't you just love the BS spin "And 80 per cent of the population is set to be fully protected by mid-November." No way will 80% be achieved by mid November. The largest percentage age group in the country is 25-40 year olds. The current first jab vaccination rate for this group is around 40%, hence the statistical reason was 80% for the total population over 16 is so difficult to achieve. And they won't be 'fully protected'. They will be 'fully vaccinated'. There is a significant difference.
1
Good to see. Tell Gladys and her half-wit offsider Chant where to stick they stupid made up 'rules'. Nearly 50,000 cases since the current 'outbreak' began, and seemingly not a SINGLE healthy person has died. The greatest scam every perpetrated on mankind.
1
@MuscleArtist I don't believe you are correct. It may be mandatory for parliamentary staff, but NOT for elected members. Nor should it be. It would be completely undemocratic to prevent an elected member of parliament from attending parliament on the basis of a vaccination ruling by the executive branch of Parliament. In effect a small group of politicians banning other politicians using the very issue that the other elected representatives may disagree on.
1
@annviolet4727 If you don't understand that one member (or group of members) of parliament should NEVER be permitted to make rules excluding other elected members from taking their place in parliament on the basis of religion, race, sexuality, health (including vaccination status), etc ....... then you're simply an unintelligent fool.
1
@annviolet4727 If you don't understand the important and unique democratic principal involved regarding placing 'conditions' on the elected representatives of the people, you don't have the necessary intelligence to enter into the discussion.
1
@annviolet4727 Politicians getting vaccinated makes NO difference to the "good of all the people". It is a personal choice they may wish to make for their own health, just like it should be for everyone else. But to mandate it so in effect exclude some politicians from the very decision making process itself is a special situation, and something clearly beyond your thinking ability.
1
Smart move Best and Less, tell 30% of your potential customers they aren't welcome to buy your cheap 'Made in China' junk. The '2 dollars' shops found in every suburb selling exactly the same junk won't be half as fussy.
1
@ecofriendly0 If anyone thinks vaccines will stop the spread (the cornerstone to Australia's supposed covid 'strategy'), perhaps they should listen to the person who lead the development of the AstraZenica vaccine, Professor Andrew Pollard ...... "Prof Pollard also warned that herd immunity was "not a possibility" because the delta variant would continue to infect people who had been vaccinated. Even if all children were vaccinated, that wouldn't stop transmission of the virus, he said. Over time, there needed to be a move away from community testing of mild infections - which will boost people's immunity - to clinically-driven testing of people who become unwell, he added. The focus should be on improving treatment for people who become seriously ill from Covid in hospital, Prof Pollard said."
1
@vetriix8972 And you've got nothing constructive to say, or most likely a troll. My guess is the latter.
1
@pepsicola7204 Troll with no education I assume. If you are a health worker (a cleaner I assume) I pay your wages, you work for me.
1
It is actually quite evil and obscene. If you consider Best and Less sell basic essentials of life (yes I know its mostly made in China junk) like cheap footwear, cheap clothing, etc ....then a ban on unvaccinated people is truly treating 30% of the NSW population like how lepers were treated in Biblical times. Anyone not offended and repulsed by such an evil idea should go take a good long hard look at themselves in the mirror.
1
@liamdevlin5980 And obviously you are just another boring internet troll with nothing to say.
1
Depends when and where you got the fine. But if not in an LGA of Concern, or only recently (as mask rules recently changed to be consistent with the rest of Sydney), consider not paying the fine and challenge it in court, representing yourself. You were NOT "walking with your roommate", you were out "exercising with your roommate". And brisk walking is exercising. Read the rules, it is not mandatory to wear a mask when exercising. The 'rules' are totally ambiguous about exercising using the footpath, but there are joggers and bike riders everywhere not wearing masks on public walkways. Let them try and argue walking isn't exercising.... I'll bet they can't.
1
Deaths during Victoria's covid outbreak 850?. Deaths so far during Sydney's current outbreak 15. Think you getting ahead of yourself just by a TINY amount......
1
@jemimahkendall6579 Why do you think you're massive lead at the end of the 'first quarter' (to pinch a football metaphor) is not going to be maintained? You'll be in the EXACT same position in a few weeks time, so will Queensland.
1
The only angry aggressive people I see in the video are the cops at the 2:56 mark of the video bashing a guy. Or is that just normal Victorian police apprehension methods.
1
No difference whatsoever to businesses who discriminate against unvaccinated people. There's "no underlying justification" for them to do that also. People who think there is are just showing a lack of understanding of the science.
1
All I see in the video is police attacking protesters. That's just normal I suppose as its ALWAYS the police who escalate tensions.
1
Because they have always know the NSW hospital system is a basket case, and have just been hoping. That's what this whole issue is about, an already over-crowed hospital system that is going to collapse like a house of cards. Go to the emergency department at a major Sydney hospital on any night and it'll be painfully obvious. Rather than spending Billions on rebuilding not perfect by good enough football stadiums, or relocating the Powerhouse Museum to somewhere where hardly anyone will go, it should have been plowed into the health system.
1
No shortage of truly evil people in this video. That includes Dan Andrews, and Allan Joyce. Both are intelligent educated people, so know perfectly well that vaccination does nothing materially to stop infection or transmission of the Delta variant. A recent study out of Qatar, done on a massive scale, shows that by 15 weeks after the second jab protection from infection is minimal, and by 20 weeks vaccinations offer ZERO protection against infection. This study is consistent with data from on 'infection by vaccination status' from Public Health England's weekly covid-19 surveillance report.
