Thing is about politics, when in opposition, it's easy to make bold promises and promise the earth to the people, once in power, it's a very different story, regardless of party and the reason for that is that anyone that's not in power can say anything they want without getting it in the back from the people but once in power, they have to be careful what they do because they are the ones that get it in the back if they get it wrong.
This is why so many promise this and that whiles out of power but rarely deliver when in power as reality bites them on the arse and we see this a lot with Eurosceptic parties on the EU and Euro, the closer they get to power or in power, they quickly change their tune because the cost of their actions would be massive on the country and the people will always put the blame on the ones that's in power that caused it.
It's the irony of politics, promise the earth to win an election, knowing full well they can't deliver on it and people fall for it because they want too, after all, lies sound much better than the cold harsh truth.

@Vitorruy1 True lol and that's the problem with parties that are either too far left or right, they promise things that are not realistic and a lot of the times it's basically to win votes at the election, only to not deliver after winning the election, it's a system that works very well because people seem to fall for it over and over again, especially on lower taxes and higher spending lol.
Sad reality is, voters are idiots, after all, governments are a reflection of the people that vote or don't vote, the public likes to complain about governments but we put them there lol, if the people got smarter, more critical thinking, better education and actually looked at the policies they are voting based on facts and not on what they want, we might actually get somewhere, until then, the system will continue to divide the people and treat them like idiots.
The real sad thing is, in Roman times, I could understand, not many people knew how to read, they didn't have the internet and access to all the information we have, what's our excuses for doing so poor when it comes to voting? we've got no excuses for how things are, people really need to look into the mirror and see where the real problem is, the people have the power to do change in any governmental system but they do a poor job of using it.
