It doesn't really need to be known as long as it's got benefits, economically, politically and stability and that what really matters.
As for the EU bringing in new members, we've got to look at it realistically, the EU has brought in a lot of countries since 2000, most are doing fine, so because you get the odd one like Poland and Hungary throwing a hissy fit, that doesn't mean it's not a success because it clearly is.
But I do think the EU needs tougher rules on new members that join in future so it's harder for them to slip like Poland and Hungary is doing.
As for Russia thinking it's anti Russia, well they would think that as they want to control that region and use them as puppets in their own games, all those countries really want is improvements to the economy and more political stability, something the EU can offer and not what Russia can, basically, the EU wants to improve those regions because it helps both sides when it comes to trade whiles Russia wants to use them as pawns in their geopolitical games, I think if I was a citizen in any of those countries, I think I know which I would find more appealing.
Also, there is nothing stopping Russia being part of these benefits has the EU is open to that but Russia will need to be less arrogant and less controlling for that to happen, in other words, not any time soon.
