@mark63424able Yep and have you seen the trade among them? it's hardly the same as creating a close alliance that the UK is desperate to create and I don't mind, the countries are even further apart with that CANZUK deal lol.
Basically, you are just talking normal trade, nothing special and it's the same kind of trade like the EU does with countless countries around the world, that isn't going to change anything for the UK because to really create a power block, you need to be a lot closer, to create a political and economic union were far fewer restrictions, what you are talking about isn't even close to that.
The truth is, the EU is an example of how to create a power block the right way, it's highly unlikely the UK is going to be able to do that with others, especially going on the message of what Brexit was all about, so yes, it's a pipe dream.
Besides, what happened about the Commonwealth? I though that was supposed to be the dream for Brexiteers until a lot of those countries showed they didn't care, but ask yourself one simple thing, why is the UK latching on to things like the Commonwealth, the CANZUK and all that? it smells of desperation that they know the UK is in decline and are trying to cling onto any thing.
On the plus side, at least a lot of this is coming from Brexiteers so maybe they know they've messed up big time on Brexit and now are getting desperate.

@Will-ul9oc They can if they lock them in a room, don't feed them, don't allow them to sleep until a deal is made, it seems to work well for them lol.
As for the UK, the EU doesn't seem to care any more about what the UK wants, it's old news for them now, I suspect they are more interested in fostering relations with other countries around the world, including Russia and China, especially with how unstable the US is getting.
The real risk I am seeing is with the rift between the EU and US, if they don't sort that out, it's going to be harder to protect western values and that will impact all western countries as the EU and US are the only things really protecting that and with a shift in power from west to east, the EU and US really need to work together before it's too late.

@mark63424able The UK could already trade with those countries even inside the EU but it didn't make much economic sense to do so because of the distance, especially when most of the things they needed, they could get from the EU market, the US is an exception to the rule because of it's size but even there, the EU and US have many bilateral agreements on trade.
But the truth is why it seems like a pipe dream that CANZUK is because of the distance from each other and even some of the difference, I highly doubt Canada would want to get too close to a Brexit UK with the path the UK is taking, Australia might but Canada and New Zealand, I doubt they will.
Basically, the real problem is this, the US and UK are going off the rails, the likes of Canada want new friends, hence why they speeded up the free trade deal with the EU, even Japan are thinking along the same lines because they see the EU as stable whereas they see the US and UK going off the rails because of popularize governments and policies they are doing, it all seems like many of those countries are favouring the EU over the others and honestly, can you blame them? they are one of the only big powers that isn't losing the plot like the US, UK and China is.
