@1995pieter True, the irony is that the US could have built strong relations with the EU and much of the world after 9/11 but they more or less wiped out a lot of that good will and it's been in decline ever since, Trump as you say is just a mask of the real problems the US faces, the problems are still there even with Biden in power.
The thing is, both the EU and US can't really afford to drift apart with a rising China looming, it's in both the EU and US interest to work a lot closer together because they both still share a lot more in common than they are different but more importantly, the EU or US on their own are likely not going to be powerful enough to contend with China in the near future with how quickly they are developing.
I suspect Biden knows that whereas Trump didn't have a clue, the problem is now is that it needs to be put into sound policies, maybe a free trade deal between the EU and US, they were working on one a few years back but that stalled, they could bring that back, take out a lot of the controversial things in it and do a few other changes to make it more acceptable to each side and that might work.

@marcinpietraszko2997 They could try but imagine if they did that, what do you think would happen? Remember that the EU is a rich economy, if they mobilize that economy, it wouldn't be good for either the US or EU and we saw how quickly the US could mobilize on the second world war, it's all about the economy, there is very little to nothing the US can do to the EU without them hitting the US hard in return, in fact we see that with trade wars, the US always seems to lose on that one.
In truth, there is no reason for it to come to that because like it or not, the EU and US are going to need each other a lot more in the coming decades as powers shift from west to east and that basically means laws, regulations and rules around the world shift in that direction, for now most of them are made by the EU and US, that can change quickly if the west isn't careful.
In any case, as far as China is in concern, Trump played a blinder which helped China's interest which is ironic as he was trying to hurt their interest.
