I think any government in France has an almost impossible jobs, regardless of which party it's from, mainly because you've got the trade unions that demand strikes on many kinds of reforms to kickstart the economy, then you have a population that is very hostile to many things like increasing retirement age in a world where most countries are doing just that. The end result is that France is becoming less competitive on the world stage, its debts will continue to rise until eventually it could blow up in their faces. Some tough political decisions are needed, which many won't be popular with the voters or trade unions, many of the parties that want to win the next election are promising so much but how will they fund it all? They are potentially making things worse over the long run for France. With that said, don't do what the UK did with its austerity measures, there needs to be a balance approach that generates economic growth whiles reducing debts, at least if they don't want it to be like the UK where they more or less had a loss decade which hurt millions of people.
