That's the thing in all this, it all boils down to the economy, manufacturing and high-tech, which the west is far ahead of Russia. Basically, the west can supple Ukraine more or less indefinitely without it having much of an impact on their own economy, Russia on the other hand would have to mobilize a lot of its economy towards the war effort which I doubt would go down well with the Russian people as it would mean less of the creature comforts for them and a bigger hit to the economy. Throw on that it's looking like the EU will ban Russian oil, things are just getting worse and worse for Russia and it's likely going to get far worse as Ukraine gets better armed and trained as well as the EU cuts off Russia's oil and gas.
