From what I understand, a lot of the asset freeze totalled around $300 billion from Russia could be used to help rebuild Ukraine, in the end, Putin started this war, makes sense to have Russia pay to help rebuild it. But clearly that's assuming many things like Ukraine kicks Russia out and that Ukraine has closer ties to the EU but there are many ways the west can help Ukraine once the dust settles.

True and even for defence as well because as good as NATO is, the countries in that are not really integrated whereas the EU, countries in that are very integrated with each other, that compels the countries in the union to come to the aid of any one of them out of self-interest whereas NATO, well it's not been tested yet.
