@AnastasiyaBunda To be fair, the Netherlands and Belgium gets a lot more tourist and in the case of Belgium, they have the EU based in Brussels as well as NATO so a lot of international travel happens there, most of the countries that are the hardest hit by this virus are the ones that are the most popular tourist destination and that likely makes it much easier to spread the virus.
In any case, there is more to it then just that but it would take too long to look close at each country but you can bet once the dust is settled, almost every country is going to be looked at very closely to see what they did right or wrong and why some got impacted more than others.
Also, I feel this virus has exposed a massive hole in the argument of euroseptics around Europe, all this petty nationalism has led to the EU not being able to help enough because much of its hands are tied behind their back because countries want control to stay at a national level, it begs the question that if the EU had more authority to help, how many more lives could have been saved because they likely would have been able to get resources to the hot spot areas that were needed sooner without the bickering the members showed, some real tough questions need to be asked on that one because this virus has shown why more integration might be a good idea or at the very least, much better cooperation.

@AnastasiyaBunda Not saying anyone is an euroseptic here but the EU has taken quite a bit of stick on this virus but for the most part, it's a national issue where the EU has little to no power in how it can help without the EU members go ahead which can be slow as we've seen, euroseptics have been complaining that the EU hasn't done enough but it would be those same euroseptics that would complain if the EU was to get more involved in national matters, they can't have it both ways, either they want things at a national level or they want an EU that can help more effectively.
Mistakes are done on many sides with how many countries tried to handle this virus, China should have been more up front about it, western countries should have taken it more seriously and so on, with any luck, once the dust settles, things can get resetted for us all and we can learn from the mistake that have been done.
As for tourist, I was just stating it as it is, countries that get more are more likely to have a harder time dealing with it, in fact we are seeing that with regions in countries like London in the UK, Milan in Italy, New York in the US, all of which are hot spots that get a lot of people coming and going, so even so some policy change from governments would have helped, these areas were always likely to have a harder time dealing with it.
In truth, we are not the only one making mistakes like we've seen in Europe, look at the US from the government to the governors and all the infighting that is going on to the spread of misinformation, we all have a lot to learn from the mess of this virus.

@marekj1100 But again, that is up to the national governments to do not the EU, all the EU could do is advise.
In any case, the lock down was designed with the intention of buying time and not overloading the health care system so they can get better prepared but because of that, opening up is likely going to be slow and in stages over the entire year, maybe longer depending on how things go and if a second wave hits.
The mess that was created was each member going it alone where if they channelled their resources through the EU, we likely would have saved many lives by getting the resources to the hot spots that were needed the most and quickly, it also does suggest that once the dust settles, we need a better plan for the future because this pandemic has exposed a lot of flaws in the system, especially at a national level.
Still the US isn't much better, they've got Trump that is saying all sorts of crazy stuff and sending mixed messaged to people, even encouraging some to rise up, then you got the states that are divided and not helping each other enough, some even trying to punish others like the red states vs the blue states, where is the unity in all that?
So yeah, reforms are needed at EU, members level as well as US and state levels because we in the west have made a right mess of this compared to Asia.
