It's a bit too early to say but as Europe opens up, case numbers were bound to rise, the real question is by how much and is it manageable, we'll find that out over the next month or so.
I always suspect that for most countries as they open up, case numbers will rise but if they can manage it and shut down cities and towns as needed and not shut the entire country down to contain it, I think they'll be fine but again, too early to tell for now.
By the way, I don't think this is a second wave and think it's part of the first wave with just opening up more, if a second wave does happen, I suspect it would be late this year or early next year.
In any case, it was always going to be a tough balancing act in opening up to protect the economy and keeping the case count low, this is something that could go on for the next, 6, 12 months or even longer.

@venomsnakeYGBSM This is why we are likely going to see a sea saw of spikes in infections and deaths and maybe a second wave, if people don't take it serious enough, we are going to repeat the same mistakes that have been done with past pandemic and that allowed a second wave to happen.
This is why in the west at least, it could take the next 2 or more years before this virus is really out, we are actually doing a lot more harm to ourselves and the economy by governments sending out confusing messages, especially the US and UK and by too many of the public not taking it serious enough, in the end, it's just doing far more harm than if we used common sense and did a hard shut down and after that, anyone out and about has to have a mask, but we are too soft in the west and because of that, we are going around in circles and likely will till at least 2022 and with that, the damage to the economy could take decades to repair, that burden will be passed onto the people so we're not doing ourselves any favours with these protest movement.
In any case, I think we have to learn this the hard way, too many people are just not using common sense on this and we're paying the price for that.

@venomsnakeYGBSM It's always lower at the weekends until around Thursday where it picks up again, I think it's best to look at it on a weekly basis than daily basis and see where things are going from that as it's more consistent without people picking and choosing lower or higher days.
Anyway, infection rates seem to be rising quite a lot now in a lot of European countries, death rates are about the same but there is usually a few weeks lag on that from infection rates so there is a fair chance death rates will rise in the coming weeks.
The US already have high infections and death rates but they didn't do an effective shut down on the country and are paying the price for that, the real question for EU countries now, is not so much that infections are rising, that was bound to happen as we open up, but the real question is, can it be contained so they don't rise too sharply, we'll find that out in the coming weeks.
Either way, I have a feeling that we are going to be playing this cat and mouse game with this virus till at least the end of 2021, maybe longer with regions going in and out of lock down as needed but I don't think any national lock downs will happen, none of them can afford to do that now unless things really get bad.
