Just like we saw in the UK, we got governments bragging for decades how well the economy is doing and yet a lot of people feel like they are being left behind, which likely contributed to the Brexit vote, voters were lashing out at how things are getting worse.
Same in the US, we keep hearing all this bragging from governments on how well the economy is doing and yet a lot of voters feel left behind and disillusioned with how things seem to be getting worse for the average person, hence how Trump managed to get into power, Brexit and Trump is all about a lot of angry voters feeling like they are being left behind.
So take your pick, either the economy isn't doing as well as they want us to think or too much wealth is ending up in fewer hands.
As for Russia, you can't take any of the stats as being accurate, but what we do know is that they are bleeding as economy because of the war and sanctions, and what we should remember with sanctions, they tend to be a slow burn over many years, even decades to do the real damage, basically, we are talking about slow decline of the Russian economy, not an off the cliff economy that many thought, and I think this is what the west wants, a weaken Russia but a stable one, which a slow burn delivers that, but unfortunately, that's not good news for Ukraine because it per longs the war longer.
