@A.Martin Being landlocked around the EU, there's little reason for Switzerland to join NATO but with that said, there is little reason why they can't join it. It would be very difficult for a country to attack Switzerland as they would have to get through EU countries. Still, I think it's more likely that Switzerland will join the EU at some point but not any time soon as I think as the EU expands, it's going to be more difficult for Switzerland to stay out being as they are surrounded by the EU, also Switzerland already have close relations with the EU with abiding many of it's rules and laws.
