I have to agree with Erdogan on that, if the west showed a much tougher response on Crimea years ago, Putin likely wouldn't have invaded Ukraine, he did so because he thought the west was weak and divided, the west was and still is divided for the most part but Putin didn't understand the scale of what he's done that's united the west for the most part. There is also the EU aspect in all this, if the EU had its own voice on the military and forign policy, the EU members pool their resources in those areas, I doubt Putin would have invaded Ukraine, it's our division on why he took advantage of Ukraine and the quicker the Europeans wake up and see that and start working a lot closer together, the better.

It's self-interest, if the likes of Turkey, China, India and others support Russia on them taking over those 4 regions in Ukraine on a fake referendum, they know Russia could do the same to them or other countries could do the same. The west likely knows that they can't allow Russia to keep those lands because if they do, the message that says around the world is that any country could invade another, hold a shame referendum and claim it as their part of their own country, it's not hard to see how this could be a bad thing for the world if the world lets it happen. So Ukraine with the west help have to take those 4 regions back, regardless of what threats Putin likes to ramble on about and whiles taking those back, they should take Crimea back as well. Russia needs to be sent a powerful message that this kind of behaver isn't acceptable and countries like Turkey, China and India should be ashamed of themselves for only realizing the risk now, I mean, how many people have to die? How bad do things have to go before they wake up? I'm critical of the west on many things but at least they are all in on this whereas those other 3 countries keep flip-flopping, depending on what's more of an advantage to them.
