Merkel was only one part of the jigsaw but lets be honest, a lot of the west are to blame for being soft on Putin when there was a lot that could be done years ago to give him pause, overall, the west is really to blame. Beside, GBN of all places, what about all that Russian money that propped up the Brexit lies or all that Russian donations to the Tory party? There is a lot of blame to go around and some investigations should be opened up in a lot of this or is that a little too uncomfortable because of their own agenda? At the end of the day, not enough was done when a lot more could be done in the past, many were willing to accept Putin's money to further his agenda, there is a lot of blame to go around and if that can of worms is opened by trying to pin it on Merkel, lets open up that can of worms on Brexit and the donations to the Tory Party and to Trump himself, not quite so easy now is it? lol.
