True, getting rid of the UK for me is a bright side for the EU and now it looks like EU expansion is back on the table and even talks about treaty change and more integration.
Things are not easy now with high inflation and energy prices but I think what is happening in Ukraine is a wake-up call for real change in Europe, especially in the EU.
We always keep hearing about the decline of the EU, have been hearing that for decades and yet they've got some of the highest quality of living around the world, but if we are looking at it in a percentage term, yes, both the EU and US are in decline and it's not because of anything we're doing wrong but more because the rest of the world is catching up, especially in Asia, the fact is, they've got a far bigger population than the EU and US and that cuts into the percentage.
The EU does have an advantage the US doesn't and that's expansion, that's something that longer term could go on for decades throughout Europe and maybe even beyond with like-minded nations, the irony is, the likes of Russia and China are pushing more countries closer to the EU, as for the US, it's a bit unknown, they tend to be an overall good country but they are starting to become more radical as the decades past by, that's should be quite alarming because if that continues, we've only got the EU as a major power that wants to improve standards for the people.
