True and I can't help but think he's using America as a benchmark on how to do things which doesn't work for many other countries around the world. Europe for instance isn't that big on building big corporations and prefers to build small to medium size companies, whereas the US goes for big corporations at the expense of medium and smaller one, personally, I prefer the medium to small companies as they are less likely to dictate terms to governments and there tends to be a lot more of them which is great for competition. I also can't help but feel that the US is trading in democracy for big corporations which more or less rule the country now, great for those companies in it, not so great for the people in the country and probably explains why the US is falling so far behind other modern countries on so many social benefits and rights.

Saying Europe is falling behind because others around the world are catching up doesn't make much sense, the truth is, as the rest of the world modernizes, Europe will make up a smaller percentage of the world economy, but that is also the case for North America, that isn't falling behind, that's just others catching up. Beside, Europe and especially EU countries have some of the highest standards of living in the world, if that is falling behind, give me more of that lol. The truth is, the modern world is around 1.5 billion people, if all the world was to modernize, that's going to lower the percentage that those modern countries today have in the world, that isn't a bad thing, in fact, it's a good thing as it means more trading partners and ideas on the world stage that we all stand to benefit from.

Yep, his argument is flawed and the truth is, Europe have some of the highest quality of living in the world, until that changes, it's kinda laughable to say Europe is falling behind, especially when in a lot of quality of living studies, it's the US that is falling behind other modern countries.

True, that pulls the overall EU GDP per capita down but it's an accurate way to measure standards of living. In fact, GDP per capita isn't a good way to measure standards of living, according to that, Americans have a higher standard of living but in reality, Europeans in the EU tend to have a higher quality of living than Americans and many studies online rate European countries as having some of the highest standard of living in the world with only Australia and Canada from outside of Europe doing so well. In fact, I'll go a step further and would say the US is slipping behind other modern countries when it comes to quality of living over the last 2 decades.
