As a Brit, when I look at the UK, US and EU, I get a sense that the UK doesn't know if they are European or American lol.
They keep trying to pull in both direction, which is creating an unbalanced society, in that it's got some of the good parts of Europe but it imports a lot of the negatives of the US, and if you look at a lot of quality of life indexes and other things like that, you get a sense that the UK is falling behind with the US, whiles many European countries are dominating the quality of life indexes and so much more.
The silver lining for the UK is that Brexit is going sour quite quickly when it comes to public minds, that we might start seeing the UK pull more towards European ideals, which are clearly better than what the US is offering when it comes to quality of life for the average citizen.
Now don't get me wrong, other European countries are not perfect, but when I look at the UK and US, the problems I see in both countries make those other European countries feel like paradise in comparison.

@Mute040404 I wish that was the case, but I've been seeing these issues in the UK way before social media and even the internet was a thing, it's just far more noticeable now than it was in the past.
We Brits or at least many of them are pulling in multiple directions, especially on the European and American question, in truth, we're European, most of our ideals are European, heck even our social system, workers right, foods we eat, cars we drive, sports we play are more in line with Europeans, we share far more in common with Europeans then Americans and for the most part, the only thing we share with the US is English, but most other things are more in line with Europe, even our interest are more in line with Europe, mainly out of geographic.
With all that, we share in some of the benefits that mainland Europeans have, but we also share a lot of the bad elements from the US, hence why Americans should never judge European quality of life based on the UK, because sadly, we don't do a good job of it in the UK.
