I think it's safe to say that things will get worse in those regions because Brexit will likely mean that money is even more tight now, especially with the pandemic and debts that are piling up.
Many of those people might think they are at rock bottom and have nothing to lose in that things can't get any worse, how wrong they are as things can always get worse.
The sad thing is about Brexit, it needed to happen for these people to realize what they've missed and as for our government, good luck them funding these regions as they rarely show any interest in the north of the UK as it's all about the south and that is likely going to be more the case now as money is likely to be really tight and the only exception to that rule could be Scotland because of the threat of them leaving the UK, in other words, the UK government might play extra nice to them to keep them onside but in truth, it would just be a bribe as the Tories never care about the common people that it amazes me that people still vote for them lol.
But honestly, these people can't complain, they are getting exactly what they deserved and what really makes it sad is that I've always felt for decades now that the EU cares more about those regions than our own government does and with that, some painful lesson are about to be learned.
