Russia, a country blessed with a lot of natural resources that most countries would love to have and yet because of it's corrupt, paranoid political system, it can't really take advantage of them. Russia as a country, could be a rich country with a high and even higher GDP per capita than most countries if they used that wealth right but what we have is a country with a lot of natural resources that don't make the most of it and a GDP per capita that is quite poor. However we like to look at it, you've got to put that down to the political system and indirectly, on the Russian people, after all, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia had a chance of becoming a modern country, is blessed with a lot of natural resources and yet still messed it up. Maybe with everything that's going on in Ukraine and once the sanctions really start to bite which lets be honest, they've hardly started yet, maybe real change in Russia can happen.
