The US likely wouldn't have become the nation it is if France or the UK held onto it but as it was, it wasn't really worth much to them at the time, remember we have to look at how the world was at the time and not how it is now and the French and British had bigger fish to fry around the world and all that was going on in the US with the UK and France was to make sure that none of them got any advantage over the other.

@Qaianna I suspect both the UK and France regret not putting more resources into holding onto those US states and expanding on that but then hindsight is a wonderful thing and if they did, the US wouldn't be what it is today.

That only the case depending on the level of technology, as that advances, geography plays far less of a role.

There only one real advantage the US have is population numbers, that about it, it's the only western modern country with that size of population and population size is a big factor in power and if any modern western EU countries had that size of population, they would have far more power and the same could be said for Australia, Canada or Japan. But over the long term of history, Europe have probably been one of the luckiest regions mostly thanks to the Romans and the decline of Rome which left a lot of mini powers in Europe that competed with each other by trying to outsmart one another and all that likely help them to become the power they became, the US are mostly Europeans so they basically built on that but with a overall bigger population as a single country. Now the real question is China, they are rapidly building a modern economy and are more or less building it how the Japanese did when they wanted to catch up to the west but in the case of China, they have a massive population size which is a scary thought to think off because a modern China would have the economy of 2 EU's and 2 US's all put together, now that would be real power and the only ones I can think of in history that had that kind of power compared to others around them was the Romans at it's peak.

Fortunately, god doesn't exist, beside, if god really did exist, why does he shit on people that pray to him the most and yet gives a high standard of living to people that don't really believe in god like northern Europeans.
