So basically, vertical farming works but we need A.I. robotics and renewable energy to reduce the cost a lot, which has we know, all 3 are coming very quickly.
So it looks like it does work, but it's not ready for prime time just yet, but I suspect we all know this isn't the end of that idea, considering how much land farming takes up, there's a big incentive for better farming ideas in a more controlled environment that could deliver more crops and better quality crops, not to mention that many countries would rather grow their own crops then import them from other countries.
Maybe in this case, they jumped the gun just a little too soon before the key technologies are in place to make it happen.
Basically, the labour cost, the skills needed and the energy cost could be reduced massively thanks to A.I. robotics and renewable energy, considering how all 3 techs are being developed, getting better and becoming cheaper, this likely means we've only delayed vertical farming, that eventually vertical farming is likely going to be cheaper than all other farming because of advancement in tech.
