@nathanaelsmith3553 If Scotland and Northern Ireland was to leave the UK, yeah I can see the EU would welcome them in and might even fast track them in as they were pulled out against their will.
But as for the UK it's self, there's little to no chance the EU would let us back in for at least a few decades, too much bad blood has been created from the UK side and not just over the last 5 years but over decades where it never felt the UK wanted in at all, the UK was too obstructive and not constructive to the EU project and the truth is, there are some EU countries that are likely happy to see the back of the UK and considering it would take the EU and every EU member to say yes to letting us back in, the odds are highly unlikely the UK could rejoin any time soon unless they see a major shift in the UK from the public, media and government in how they see the EU project.
The UK made it's bed and now has to accept it with the only real hope is that we could join the single market and custom union but I suspect there is little to no chance of the UK joining the political body of the EU, in other words, they'll let us in the single market and custom union because the UK won't have a say in making all the laws, rules and regulations but there is little chance of them letting us back in the decision making part of the project, especially now the EU and many of it's members see this as a big opening for the EU to do some real changes and reforms without the UK blocking it.

I think it's highly likely the UK will rejoin, there's already people starting to realize that Brexit was a mistake but that can of worms isn't going to be opened for at least another decade when the dust settles and we have a new government in power.
I think the really interesting factor is not so much if the UK will rejoin but when and how, I say that because it's highly unlikely the EU and many of it's members will let the UK back in any time soon, the UK will have to wait at least a decade but I suspect a few decades with single market and custom union being our best hope.
As for the how, that's tricky because if the UK isn't careful, Scotland and Northern Ireland could leave the UK and basically, they could join much sooner as many in the EU and it's members will likely go easier on them as they were more or less pulled out of the EU against their will, as for England, we've got zero chance of joining any time soon until the EU see major changes from the public, media and government in how they see the EU project and even then, there will be no op-outs, the UK will be joining everything like the Euro and whatever other integrations that happen in the EU over the coming decades.
The UK had a really sweet deal inside the EU with all the op-outs it had and they didn't even realize it, now they've thrown all that away for a really bad deal.
So yes, the EU will welcome the UK back at some point but it's going to be on EU terms, it's not going to be when the UK chooses.
