More likely because god didn't do anything as he doesn't exist, but more likely because the univarse is so big that life is very likely so spread out that we likely would have to advanced a lot more then we are just to be able to see them, for all we know, alian life could be one per galaxy and if thats thats the case, chances of us finding them anytime soon are very small but it would also means there is a lot of alian life out there.
In truth, space is big and we are just too small and not advanced enough yet to know whats out there, but I'll be supprised if Earth is the only living planet around, it's highly unlikely.
Beside, by the time we can even reach another life form, we are very likely going to be far more civilised and advanced because tech advancement will force us to be or it will wipe us out, we've seen that over the last 100 years and thats going to be more the case over the next 200.
