my brother said that years ago when he worked at Safeway and they had many Poles working there, he said they worked harder then most of the Brits there so it's no wonder many busisnesses want them, the real problem here is that without them, prices could go up for many things we buy or busisnesses could ship out because it's cheaper and more effective to get labour elseware. Also, our productivaty level isn't that great in the UK, the Germans produce more in 4 days then the average Brit does in 5 and that to me is where the real problem is on why busisnesses push hard to bring in people from other countries.

It's just simply logic, think about it, a migrants or a Pole comes to the UK to find work, the money they get from that job is many times higher then they get back home, big incentive to work very hard and that is what they do from what I've seen whereas us Brits have one of the lower productivaty level in the modern world which could mean a few things that either we are lazy or or system we are using in the UK is less effective then what other modern countries use. In any event, it's a big incentive for busisnesses to want to use migrants then us Brits because they get the job done better and for less and if they don't get that from the UK, thoes busisnneses are likely to just get thoes jobs from another country, thats just the sad reality of it all, it's all about the profits.

I don't think they are defending them but think for a second, get rid of all them and all other cheap labour from around the world and good luck explaining that to British consumers when they see everything sky rocket in price, our standard of living would take a major hit if it wasn't for them, the sad reality is that we are addicted to them doing a lot of the work for little so we don't have to do it and they also need the jobs, it's the chicken and egg we are both stuck with.

The real problem is the consumers demand this by wanting goods for less and if we can't get them by British made goods because they are too expensive, we'll end up buying them from other countries that are willing to do it for much less, thats the reality of it and if that was taken away, our standard of living would nose dive, good luck explaining that to British consumers on why everything is a lot more expensive.

It's a double edge sword, on the one hand we all want things as cheap as we can get but on the other we all want higher wages, it's hard to have both without automation, the reality is that in the west at least, we are addicted to cheap goods and the likes of China can do a much better job at delivering that, if it wasn't for that and everything was say made in the UK, our standard of living would nose dive.

That helps to a degree but then that could've been the same for all eastern European countries, but if we look at it, the standard of living of the ones that join the EU is much higher then the ones that didn't, Ukraine used to be a powerhouse decades ago and look at them now, you have to wonder how much better off they would be if they ware in the EU now, in fact we don't need to wonder, just look at the gdp per capita of the eastern members in the EU and look at the ones that are not in the EU.

Migration of people is natural and have been happening for along time, just now it's becoming political because of control and fear. As for the eastern EU members, I don't see a problem with them working in western EU members and taking much of that money back home, it helps them to develop whiles learning new skills, it's also good for having people move around the EU.

Not for them but it's kind of is for the natives of the country, it's just enough to get by really.
